wrightie 05-10-2005 09:54 PM

first thing i would do is turn the box around and face the subs into the trunk.

Trust me on this one

The subs are facing into the trunk/into the car.

TwistedDreams 05-10-2005 09:58 PM

when I had mine facing the inside of the car the only thing it did was reduce the trunk rattle turn it around more thump.....

Vtolds 05-10-2005 10:02 PM

I'll give it a shot, someone on another forum said the same thing.

idk the power of those subs, but it looks like your running too small of power wire IMO....otherwise great looking setup!!

Vtolds 05-10-2005 10:28 PM

Thats 4 gauge wire, I think it can handle 610 watts. :glare:

wy3134 05-10-2005 10:40 PM

thats 4 guage wire from the subs to the amp?

Vtolds 05-10-2005 10:43 PM

no its 16 Gauge speaker wire, you said the power wire looked to small. I was told by a couple guys that 16 gauge would be fine since it is only taking half of the 610 watts.

Alright, first of all, it looks good. Congrats :)

Second, are you all saying that subs should be facing the inside of the car or the trunk? I keep mine facing the trunk and I think it sounds better.

Usually rear-ward facing subs give the best sound. Alter the distance from the subs to the back of the trunk though, the sound reflecting back could be out of phase with the sound leaving the subs and cancelling.

dude, you drive a hyundai lol

nice set up

coblepots 05-11-2005 01:47 AM

Maybe i read it wrong but are you using 16 gauge wire for the power wire???? I'd say 4 gauge is the minumum you want to go, much less resistance = less distortion. Also, make sure your ground is only 1.5 feet or less, again for less distortion. For the speaker wire, it's always best to look and see the thickness of the wires going to the voice coil and gauge it that way. For a DVC, go up 2-4 gauge. Most subs that size use 16-12 so using a 12-10 wouldn't be a bad idea. It may be over kill but the more total resistance you take out the better it will sound! Plus, i mean it's like 1-2 dollars a foot, money well spent IMO, especially with such kick ass audio components as those bad boys. My audiobahns are crying in shame.

You would be reading everything wrong. My Power Wire going to the amp is 4 Gauge the Ground is 4 Gauge and the Speaker wire is 16 gauge.

ptrudel 05-11-2005 09:41 AM

if you're runnin those wires, you're fine...my 1 10" DVC clarion has that, and its 700watts from the amp, sounds fine to me...

great lookin setup BTW, buddy of mine had eclipse subs, and GEEZUS were they loud...turn 'em around into the trunk, and you'll definaately notice a difference :thumb:
