#3 for me-2000 ld9 5 speed sedan
Well, the title pretty much says it all...
After finding out that Tequila (99 coupe) is rusting faster and could possibly cost me a lot of money in the short term, the search for a replacement was on... And the result... This one... picked it up for $400, so far from what I can tell, it needs an exhaust, stereo, and a few minor things here and there... for the price, I can't really complain. Original silver hood was severely rusted, so the previous owner replaced it with this one. Only issue, the original had struts, this one needs either brackets welded on, or a prop rod... He took the side skirt off to check for rust, only a bit of surface rust, and now I have to figure out how to remount the skirt... Ah... the stupidity... dryer venting for the "ram air induction" as he called it... :rolleyes2: Haven't checked to see if there is an actual filter at the end of the dryer venting, or if it is just this green mesh where the fog light used to be... Lightly tinted tail lights with VHT... not sure if I will keep these or put the ones I have on the coupe (as seen in this picture)... and the junk he "included" with the car... an extra set of fans, headlights, trunk carpet and spare tire cover, camaro muffler (99% sure it's a stock system), ugly exhaust tips, grand am spoiler and a cracked radio bezel... Well, this is how she sits, hopefully I can get some time in the next week or so to tear into it and see what it needs and what it will cost to get on the road... :awesome: |
Cant beat that price.... But why do all 5 speeds I see have to be foh dohs
|
there are a ton of 5 speeds up here, 90% are coupes... i wanted the sedan cuz i have 3 kids in car seats... much easier to install both the seats and the kids with the extra 2 doors lulz...

Not bad. Not bad at all

^^ really?
|
lol nice find, allthough it seems like the previous owner really didnt know what he was doing when it came to modding a car.
|
Oh ya... i listened as he blabbed on about it saying it was faster then a b16 civic etc... i was just like oh ya...
I am hoping to see what i can get done this weekend on it :) |
how fun is that 5 speed bro?
|
Lol it hasn't moved other than to switch it's spot in the driveway lol... gotta get working on it this weekend hopefully
|
well, finally got it inside to work on it...
not too bad of a list: small hole on pass rocker and inside trunk- bondo will do broken rear spring- still have stock ones from lowered sedan rear brake lines- gotta replace, no spares! rear calipers if bleeder screws are seized- have spare set in shed or on coupe hazard switch- pushed into the dash, remove gauge cluster and reinstall exhaust- have the pieces, just need it welded on wipers- have to buy new front tires- have 3 other sets of tires and rims to use for safety got the rear bumper off tonight to prep for body work, pulled the head lights and tails out for custom work... quick shot of the tails from my cell phone... still needs to be buffed and cleared over top, plus not the best lighting! 1 coat of black vht from previous owner, 3 coats of red vht by me tonight! |
Im curious to see how those tails look once your done with them. From what I can see so far the should look pretty sweet!
|
maybe ill bring them with me to the nov. 4th meet... you gonna make it?
|
yah bring em!
|
just a quick update...
small hole in the trunk has been patched, rear bumper re-installed and also did this tonight :) yupp, the grand am interior swap begins... full seat conversion tonight, front and rear... the rest will probably wait til the summer, i just want it on the road!! also did this: rear strut tower bar... these are such a pain to get in given the tight space lol |
The alero interior looks way better than the grand-am one though...but to each their own
EDIT: That appears to be a tan interior...if so is it in bad condition and if you end up doing the full swap |
no it's the grey interior, just the reflection of the light... it is in horrible shape, half the panels don't fit right, are ripped etc, and i just like being different so this one will get the grand am interior... just like my coupe :)
the dash will actually be coming out of the coupe and into this one, just need to find a 5 speed centre console |
Out of curiosity, Did you fix the dash warpage on the GA dash?
