doubleN0alero 09-01-2004 01:10 PM

b-spot 09-01-2004 01:25 PM

^ obviously someone who doesn't know poop about the 2.2

Redog 09-01-2004 02:53 PM

lol.. just tryin to keep everyone in line here B)

MikeSS 09-01-2004 03:31 PM

You can "burn" quite a few cars with the 2.2 after a few mods, I hate people ragging on the 4 cyl just cause they assume it should be slow.....two words, less weight.

Whats your best 1/4 sunday alero??

Sundayalero 09-01-2004 04:58 PM

Umm, don't know. I have not been to a track since I've had the Alero.

But, my point was not to say that the 2.2 is slow (i've never driven one), more that I did not think that 58lbs. would make that much of a difference.

b-spot 09-01-2004 05:21 PM

Someone posted the block weight differences between the 3400 and the ECOTEC... (final reality?) I searched and couldn't find the exact numbers but it was in the 100's of pounds. Plus a manual tranny is lighter than an auto. I'm not sure why the curb weights are listed at a 58lb difference to tell you the truth.

Youngblood77 09-01-2004 05:25 PM

Interesting. That said, I gotta think a 4 banger would be the car to have, IF the aftermarket support was better... The 4's make almost as much power as the 3.4's stock, just not near as much torque, right?

Redog 09-01-2004 05:27 PM

/\/\ Yes

Youngblood77 09-01-2004 05:31 PM

I wouldn't mind the 4 banger's gas mileage either. ;)

Sundayalero 09-01-2004 05:40 PM

/\/\/\ Or manual tranny...

b-spot 09-01-2004 05:53 PM

^ until your stuck in rush hour traffic going up a hill, then you wish you had an auto again :) Although the workout my left leg gets in these cases is very beneficial.
