Want to put CAI on my 05 Malibu LS.. Help

Hello all im not necessarily new here I came here for alot of help when I had my 00 GLS. I have since sold the car and bought an 05 Malibu LS with a 2.2 Ecotec. Id like to put a CAI on it but I've heard it will throw codes if I do. The guys on the Malibu forum aren't much help. I was wondering if anyone here has heard of this and could give me any tips or pointers it would be greatly appreciated. And im not sure if id want to run just the filter it new tubes and all I don't know how complicated that would be.
Thanks!

i dont "think" it will throw any codes. havnt had much problem with the aleros and they are practicaly the same car. just make sure everything has a place to fit in the cia like the intake air sensor etc.

Thank you, and yes I know they are that's why I came here for info plus you guys have always been a big help. I think I might just buy an adapter for the MAD and run the filter and take out the box. I don't know how complicated running the whole system would be.

a Cai is very simple to install, only part annoying about it is taking out the stock air box and all the tubing. ive got one on my car and love it.

imo, id just do the full cold air.

Will I have any problems with the MAF or anything if I do the whole system? Any recommendations of what to go with?

no, and ebay intakes with an upgraded filter (purchase a K&N) seem to be your best bang for the buck.

sleepyalero 06-12-2012 01:20 PM

there will be no problems

Would it matter if its for the 2.2 or 2.4? The only 2.2 ones I can find on ebay are the secret weapon ones and I don't wanna drop $300 or so on something like that. Its the newer model not classic if that makes a difference.

just search what engine you have and the word alero, some cheapies should pop up.

i.e "2.2 alero cold air intake"

a.graham52 06-13-2012 07:13 AM

or a cavi/sunfire 2.2 intake will work i belive .

The throttle body and MAF sensor wouldn't be diffrent? I honestly can't find anything for this Malibu.
