fuel pump replacement

Hey guys, this is going go be short and sweet.

My fuel pump quit. I think this because I don't hear the hum from the tank, and have no pressure in my fuel rail.

Questions.
What is the easiest way to change it myself. Drop the tank or cut a hole in the floor?

And do I need any special tools other than basic wrenches and socket set.

I am looking to do this tomorrow after school. All help us appreciated

pull your rear seat out, there should be an access point that the pump is mounted to the bottom of

thats what i meant, is it easier to just make a door, or is it easier to drop the tank. i have about 10l of fuel in it

Try cleaning the connector next to the wheel well underneath the car.

How did it die? Only one of the 3 pumps I had replaced died while I was driving. I was on a 35 MPH roadway, and the car started bucking a bit. I pulled over on a side street, stopped, then the car died.

The other 2 died when I started the car.

I'm on number 4 now :glare:

foxsdaddy67 10-27-2011 06:17 PM

check your fuel pump relay under the hood!

colonel6632 10-27-2011 09:09 PM

i didnt drain my gas tank, mostly because my tank was already empty. its really easy to change the fuel pump. i found the hardest part was getting the fuel lines off
