Top End,or just how fast will it go?

Driving on a 4-lane highway couple of days ago, glanced at the speedometer, I was doing 80-mph. The motor didn't even seem to be breathing hard.
This got me to wondering, our Aleros, v6, auto, completely stock, just what is the top end on these cars?
Though maybe someone had went for it and lived to share the experience.
I'm not gonna try it, and sure as hell not suggesting anyone give it a try.

All right you..I see you thinking about it...no, don't even, not worth it.

They are governed to 107... i wouldn't even suggest it without being on a closed race course with upgraded brakes and suspension

With my mods, and tuned ive hit 142 mph.

The german ones are governed at about 125. I heard that a stock V6 could hit about 135 miles without the governor but I am pretty sure it will take ages to reach this speeds with a stock engine :D

Good stuff! I expected their to be a governor to a certain speed. I was joking with a buddy," don't know how fast it will go.....but but it has a 140 mph speedometer!!"

just because it has a 140 speedo doesnt mean it will go that fast

ive had mine up to 134

I know a guy who has one with the speed and rev limiters removed, 36 lb injectors, cai and ported exhaust mans. Had it to 153 at a track, but had a couple of problems after.
He was planning a rebuild, and said he didn't care what happened to the motor that day. To be specific, he wasn't at a 1/4 mile strip, he was at a round track

On a closed road, I've had mine to around 105. On the interstate, at 80, mine keeps steady at about 2250 rpm.

With the 3.05 FDR in the trans, the CALULATED top speed is 158. However with wind resistance, road surface, and overall handling, it's a different figure overall.

The Aleros are governed to 108 because the stock brakes, suspension, and tires will not be able to handle those types of speed. Many of us have upgraded our suspension, brakes, and tires before the speed limiter was removed

It is an Aleromod policy to close treads like this. The types of speeds wee are talking about here are not safe on public road. Everybody here knows that and I'm seeing comments like "closed road" and "on the track" so that is why this thread is going to remain open. However if this turns into a pissing contest of racing, and how fast I go my car up to on the interstate, I'm going to close it, delete it, and issue warnings and suspensions where we, the owners, see fit. We will not be held responsible for anybody's poor decision to try this and possiblly be killed or kill somebody else. Thank you

^^ and this is why i love this forum... site owners who actually care about it's members but also take action where warranted! Great job Kenny B!!

It will go fast enough to earn you a one-way ticket to the slammer (by way of a patrol car).
Just because you can, doesn't mean you should.

aleros_eat_rice 11-03-2014 12:56 PM

I would never take mine over 80 on the interstate. Even then, it's to keep with the flow of traffic.

I've had ours up to the limit, for a couple minutes, on a pretty much straight, flat, empty strech of highway on our way to Las Vegas once. And even at that a UPS triple trailer truck came out of nowhere and passed us like we were going the speed limit...
