Lowering Springs

what are the lowest lowering springs out there that will fit the alero? how much and where is the best place to buy them?

strtrydr 02-23-2011 10:55 PM

IIRC ... Intrax Springs are the lowest getting you 3" lower once they settle ... Plus they got a nice ride to them if mounted on some good struts like GR-2 or AGXs. As far as price and where to buy ... Just google it!

You could also look into H&R Springs ... I think they're very similar to the Intrax Springs.

Redog 02-23-2011 11:09 PM

If you live in PA, you don't wanna go that low ;)

lowolds1 02-23-2011 11:16 PM

yes i do...i had a s10 that you couldnt even slide a cig pack standing up under the frame...low is what i like but i cant find these springs anywhere on internet? and if i do it doesnt say that low and what car should i look it up for?

Shiwnath 02-23-2011 11:21 PM

try looking it up for a 99-05 grand am or a 97-03 malibu...

lowolds1 02-24-2011 06:16 AM

ok thank you if anyone has any other sugestions..throw them in here too

strtrydr 02-24-2011 06:20 AM

Shiwnath is correct ... Your going to need to search for 99+ grand ams. You will be looking for Intrax part# 25-1-016. They do say on them 2.0" - 2.25" drop but like I said once they settled on my car I got 3" out of them.

jabartram 02-24-2011 08:18 AM

ill have a set of intrax for sale once i get h&r's installed.

kwhauck 02-24-2011 08:30 AM

You should probably just cut your stock springs....

kwhauck 02-24-2011 09:31 AM

well no duh, but when they are just looking to get low and want to be cheap and not buy airride, that is my suggestion.....

Alerojester 02-24-2011 09:33 AM

yeah true point Kyle, idk if i do any lowering to mine which i will eventually beings i live in Iowa im not going much more then 1.75 in

lowolds1 02-24-2011 04:54 PM

i always see people with hondas who did that, and the smallest bump your car just hops around like it has hydraulics, it looks so funny.

If you are going to do it at all, do it right the first time, I think there are even some air struts for sale on here......

BlueLego 02-24-2011 08:16 PM

i'm with you on this.
the previous owner of my car heated these sprint springs and this thing is low. my front bumper sits like 3 inches from the ground and the frame isn't too much higher. albuquerque roads suck also haha.
do h&R's give the same drop as intrax?? i would love to have a 3 inch drop on uncut or unheated springs

strtrydr 02-24-2011 09:25 PM

^ As far as I know ... YES.

I got a 3" drop with my Intrax/GR-2 setup. Air Ride is still the best way to get low though :p

Redog 02-24-2011 09:31 PM

Save up and bag it the first time.

IDK how much an airride kit costs, but figure on spending about $200 on lowering springs, $70 on an aligment (at least that's the price around here) and figure an hour to 2 hours of labor if your not doing this yourself, plus the cost of the airride in the future ;)

strtrydr 02-24-2011 09:34 PM

^ 1 - 2 Hours of labor?

That's a joke right ... It's going to take longer than that if you care how everything looks and is hidden when it's finished.

pimpalero2003 02-24-2011 09:49 PM

Hes talking about doing springs! Atleast I hope would love 2 see a 2hr complete airride install. Well maybe with multiple people
