replacing seats

hello everyone...

i drive on the highway alot with my car... and find that my back starts hurting after a hour or two of driving...

so i was thinking about looking for some leather seats to install in my car... i know the gls version came with 6 way adjustable power seats in leather... not sure if they still did the fold down thing...

anyways... are the leather ones comfier? or would i beable to swap seats from another vehicle (if leather preferably a heated one)

and the back middle seat is also rather hard... would leather seats help that?

i have leather and i dont find it that useful you slide around alot on them

dont mean to thread jack but does anyone know if gp seats will swap to the alero?

I'd make sure that your lumbar support is turned all the way down, because that pos absolutely kills my back. I couldn't figure out what was doing it at first, when I could hardly walk after getting out of the car... It was that cheap stupid lumbar support.

anyone know about the gp seats going to alero?

billytheman1188 04-23-2009 09:10 PM

you know that the leather ones are the same shape and everything.....just leather. lol

and the lumbar support isnt bad for some people.....my lower back always hurts so i have mine pushed out a good amount. helps a lot

sry to bash i dont dont see how leather would help at all, heat might, they have pads you can buy for car seats that will do the same thing as a heated seat, why go thourgh all that trouble and money for leather with wears, cracks, and gets so hot in the sun

If his seats are messed up, maybe he is just thinking, "I might as well go leather". Leather looks classier than regular fabric which rips and tears as well. Also, with leather, if you use a conditioner, you dont run as much risk of it cracking. But anyways (to the op) Alero seats are probably all the same. I think mine also adjust six ways and its not a GLS and they are fabric. So leather wont really make a difference comfort-wise. The leather is just a cover over a regular alero seat.

leather and cloth both have their pros and cons. im pretty sure leather and cloth both have the same style stitching but compared to my brother's cloth seats in his alero, my leather seats feel softer.

Although everyone has vastly different opinions on which seats are comfortable and which ones aren't (I liken it to trying on shoes....), it is my firm stance that the only GM product to have comfortable, supportive seats was the '04-'07 Pontiac GTO.
Yes, even the seats in the almighty Corvette ZR1 are embarrassing.

They should. I'm planing on trying it, but I don't think the color matches, the Taupe anyway

I personally like the seatsof the Cobalt SS. I have a certain setting in the Bravada but after a while I get sore and agitated. Try bringing the seat up or lay it back. Lumbar makes a difference, either good or bad.

Moral of the story: change positios after a while.

Cliff, how many cars have you owned? You know all the random crap....like what years chevy trucks didn't come with running boards. It's amazing.

i don't think the gp's back seat will fit, but the fronts should as long as they're from a 2 dr

colonel6632 04-24-2009 04:55 AM

well i'm just looking for a softer and a seat that has more cushion to it... though leather ones might help...

Redog 04-24-2009 10:46 AM

Would the GTO seats fit?

My driver's seat is showing wear as it would in a 9 year old car with 1043xx mile on it ;)

the gp came in a two door, i wonder if they will fit... when i get to work today i will go check out some gp's and see how they are put it and width

colonel6632 05-15-2009 08:09 AM

any one look into the grand prix seats... had a friend with a grand prix... i think his seats were softer... and i think you can get heated leather seats... sure it wouldn't be hard to wire up... just the bolting down part...
