this my friend,,very true. lol,,, if you look at it that way.. but also if you buy an alero say for 3800 dollars and you put in 3000 to the motor and whatnot your up to 6800 dollar where abouts then you get your cosmetics done (wheels body ect) your at around 8000 including repairs or when things go wrong... now for 8000 area one could buy something better ... i guess it all deends on what one considers cheap

good point..... my next car is gonna be the new malibu. i already have plans to shave the reverse lights on the trunk lid and just leave the ones on the outside.:lol:

i usually dont like the sound a 4 banger makes.....but those sound real good. the interiors are too boring/all plastic in those. not a huge fan of that. plus the malibu has a 6 cylinder 252hp engine and the interior is nice on them.

worknprog.99 06-05-2009 01:16 AM

true but they have no get up and go (i drive them evryday lol)

/thread

Nate's Alero 06-05-2009 12:38 PM

yeah.... if i had the cash i would have done my 3500 topswap on my 3400 block

wrestlingandrunning 06-05-2009 03:56 PM

so is this going to be the 3400 performance thread then? cause if it is i have a question i was on grandamgt.com and a guy said pacesetter is coming out with headers for the 3400 at a more competitive price then s&s

i was wondering if anyone else heard about this

hey! i've got some big plans in the works. oh and i installed my own kyb's and eibachs... that's kinda performance.. kinda? i just have to save up the 550 for my race ported heads, 300 for the new TB, and 100 to get my intake ported and polished :) i'm almost there!

kwhauck 06-06-2009 01:10 PM

i like performance....

crackakam 06-06-2009 04:27 PM

any one know about how good hp tuning is need to know asap

cherrington17 06-06-2009 06:14 PM

hp tuners? its the best... if you can afford it.

WhiteV6 06-06-2009 06:59 PM

Considering there are no other options, I guess you can say its the best. Its not a $3000 aftermarket ECM that would need a $900 trans controller, so now it just got cheap too....

Pacesetter quality leaves much to be desired.

Redog 06-06-2009 09:08 PM

Speed and performance are not cheap. Plain and simple.

I will have my Alero in the 13's without a power adder one day ;)

that'll be the day that i die.

mfuller 06-06-2009 11:13 PM

Mine should be there once I get it running on all 6 cylinders. I figure I'm leaving at least 80HP on the table with only 4 cylinders having compression.

Nate's Alero 06-06-2009 11:15 PM

why the no compression??

mfuller 06-07-2009 09:27 AM

Either blown headgasket(s) or bad rings, or a combination of the two. Motor is coming back out.
A.S.S isn't happening for me this year.

jackal2000 06-07-2009 09:48 AM

hope ion doesn't see this

sorry to hear that man, let us know how it looks when you pull it, i'm always interested on your build

WhiteV6 06-07-2009 01:52 PM

Why are you pulling the motor for a head gasket? I would think pulling the heads off first would be easier than pulling the motor. Besides that, you can put some oil through the spark plug hole and see if the rings are the problem.
