Time to ditch the fart cans

one of them fell off today lol

I'm not even kidding though, I was pulling into a parking lot and one scraped against the concrete. and the next thing I know, one of them is dragging along the pavement.

I'm just taking it as a hint

Anyway, I'm looking for suggestions as far as exhaust goes, As of right now, all I really need is a single in dual outs muffler and tips. A new resonator and high-flow cat are on the list of things to do in the future, but can wait.

What kind of muffler isn't incredibly expensive and won't sound like crap on the 2.4?

If you have links/prices/sound clips, etc its greatly appreciated.

Hey AJ im about to sell my old magna flow muffler which I just took off my car...It had a nice deep tone that didnt get high pitch at higher rpm...i really like that tone...I took it off because I upgraded my exhaust to a 2.5" and the mag muffler inlet was 2.25 so I got 2.5" inlet muffler from vibrant which is deep and mellow on the low rpm but sounds a lil ricey and loud on the higher rpm range so with that along with the pacesetters header I am loud as hell actually have a listen at this thread if you havent already:

But if you are interested in the muffler let me know...im gonna put it in the bazaar as soon as i get it cleaned up and get some pics

He has a 3400, I have a 2.4.

Pacesetter sounds alright on the 3.4, but terrible on the 2.4.

Thanks for the offer, but I'm looking for one with dual outlets because I have the razzi kit.

Vinalero 08-10-2008 12:31 PM

Pacesetter sound REALLY raspy with the 2.4L

whiterider00 08-10-2008 07:22 PM

BORLA. got mine (single in single out) on ebay for under $100 shipped. double out might be a bit more. sounds nice and deep through all RPMs, and not too loud.

Sorry for stealing this thread, but I was wondering, does a single in dual out muffler serve any purpose besides looks? The way I see it, (please correct me if Im wrong) if you make a funnel top bigger, whatever you pour will only flow as much as the smaller side allows it. In other words, flow wise, it doesn't really matter that you've got two outlets, because the single inlet won't allow the two outlets to flow their true potential. This is why when I get an exhaust Im planning on a single in/ out and adding a tip with two outs for the looks. Anyways... like I said, if I am wrong please correct me so when I get the exhaust, I can get the right one.

I have a brand new in box SLP single in dual out muffler I will sell you for $100 shipped........

Redog 08-11-2008 10:48 AM

The 3400 blue Alero is Frostbite. I knew right away by the DE plates

Good God. The Pacesetter on the 2.4 sounds worse than a Civic

I'm doing it just for looks

Your logic makes sense though, unless the two outlets are both smaller in diameter than the inlet.
You could figure in the fact that the air is getting slightly cooler and more dense as it flows towards the exit, therefore it takes up more spaces but I think that's over-thinking things.

If you just want the most air going through the muffler as possible, you should probably get a straight through muffler.
