Tequila- My 1999 Alero Coupe
I thought I would give the coupe her own thread, as the car continues to get modded, even though its sole purpose is a daily driver/winter beater...:canada:
and the current upgrades... I added some blue... gauges to come as soon as the weather warms up... got these pieces for free when I bought the exhaust for the sedan in the summer ... Hope you enjoy, comments are welcome as always |
I really like the alero-am interior.
Love the GA interior swap.
as mentioned, the modding continues...
got a set of gauges for the pod, and of course it was a mechanical oil pressure, so off came the idi cover... and this is how it is now... used the grinder to shave the lettering down, then worked my way up to 2000grit... primered with high temp engine paint, followed by the gloss black engine paint... this is how it turned out... it's not perfect, but neither is the car!!! after all, it is the winter beater |
Not bad!!
^^looking good.
looks great i like the GA interior swap.
installed gauges and idi cover today... is it weird that the oil pressure was sitting at 65psi? my sedan with the LA1 sits around 40psi...
Looking very good!
thanks... probably should have painted the bolts too... or at least cleaned them up before installing lol... they stick out like a sore thumb!!
The gauges working? How was it wireing them up?
i kinda want to do this... O:
oil pressure gauge is up and running, water temp is just a dummy gauge... got all 3 gauges for $20 with an extra pod (kijiji is awesome!! already sold the pod) and the sensor on the water gauge was missing... not too worried about it, contemplating another gauge later on... for now it fills the hole!! the volt gauge and lighting are wired, just need to pull the radio and splice some wires... having only 1 day a week off is kinda hard to get anything done... mostly wanna spend time with the kids and wife! I am hoping to get around to it this weekend, if I remember I will take some more pictures of the wiring to help out
im gonna go ahead and ask the obvious question and say wtf is with the chicken wire on the effin 1/4 panles???

lol... i wondered when you might see that crappy hack job!!... lol... the car looked pretty much like swiss cheese when i got it for a bottle of tequila... i figured if i could get it running, i would patch the holes (quite horribly i might add) i would drive it for the winter until it completely dies... i had absolutely no clue on how to do the body work, but wanted this car to be fixed by me... so i cut out the old rust and patched in the gutter mesh with bondo on top... when it falls apart again, i will see about trying to fix it properly, but until it goes, i will leave it as is... there are no more visible holes and it passed the safety!! |
well, quick update on this car... it got a new set of wheels thanks to Paul's purchase of new wheels for his car...
also went back to the clear corners, instead of the black bezels with orange reflector... here is a quick picture, dirty, dusty and rusty, but the wheels look nice!! |
gives it some character. looks good with the nice headlights and rims, not bad.
Dang....that previous owner DEF didn't baby that car. Poor thing :( But it's nice to see you keep adding things to your winter beater....lol. Wish i had the money to add stuff to my SECOND car! haha. Other than the rust all over the car looks good. I still like the other one better though :P
very nice progress man. i am glad that you are trying to make this car nice again. keep up the good work.
Thanks guys... and billy i like the other one better too hahaha...
Sadly i think this one may hae run it's course... blew a rear brake line the other day and my mechanic said it's getting really rough underneath ... :( Not sure what to do now... |
