Thermostat opening temp
Hi, got a new Stant thermostat here.
Tested it in a pot - well 195° F and the Thermostat hasn't opened yet. 200° F the thermostat is beginning to open up. 208° F the water is boiling heavily the thermostat is fully open. Is it broken or can I use it? Thanks to heavy city traffic and stop and go my car runs at about 3/4 on the gauge. |
Take it back and try another. AC delco. Actually. Stant has been going down hill lately. I put a new one in an 05 blazer and it did the same thing.

what idea??
to test the T-stat? I already did this, not with 50/50 antifreeze (i won't ruin my cooking pots for this). Or do you mean an 180°F t-stat? |
about the 180°F T-stat
Summit says 36308 45848 13848 Stant Thermostats fit the LA1 - but according to RA they all have different dimensions What Thermostats do you guys with a 180 have in there? |

i mean with the 50/50 and string idea. having a 50/50 mix is going to change the boiling point of water. shouldnt even boil until 212F anyways. so unless your higher then mt everest 108f is not right and you should recheck your process of measuring. go buy a cheap used pot to test in if you have to. |
