Fried Headunit?
 

my ex (who used to have the bonneville) now drives a honda CR-v with an RCA headunit. anyhow, it came with the vehicle, has worked flawlessly but recently went completely dead, then after 3 days started working but the volume knob doesn't work and when the car is shut off, the screen will randomly flash on and off instead of going into power save mode - not to mention it will continue playing cds even if the faceplate is taken off. is it fried? if so what happened to it? whats a good brand/ model to replace with that is under a hundred dollars new?

Possibly water got on it somehow? When my mom had her Jeep Wrangler I know water came in off of the top when she was putting it down one time and all it took was a little water to run over the faceplate.

And here you go. I have put three of these in friends cars. Great factory replacement! Simple to use. Reads all CD formats and even has a front auxilary jack. For black Friday Best Buy is having it for $80.00. The cheapest I have found it elsewhere previously was $90.00. I'd snatch this for sure if I were in your shoes.

if the faceplate comes off then clean the contacts with iso and problem solved mine used to glitch all the time!
