Figured I'd repost this if anyone's interested still
1999 model worked fine, GA's 99-00 I believe worked assuming it the same, as usual this is from my experience, it's been posted on gagt as well disconnect the negative battery terminal Located the BCM under the passenger side kick panel, remove the two bolts holding the plastic cover and pull down the BCM. Locate the middle pin connection and unplug it, find the yellow/black wire and the light green/black wire that sits right next to it Give yourself some room to work away from the BCM so that you have enough wire to work with and cut the two wires. With the two wires you have hanging off the plug, twist them together, solder them, use connectors to connect them. I covered the other 2 wire ends with electrical tape and wrapped them up. Now plug the connection back in, recconnect your battery connection and voila, control over your headlights at night, parking lamps and low beams. No More Auto Headlights |
err whats a BCM? Maybe add some pics to make this a proper tut
|
body control module, it's the box that controls a bunch of wiring, after you tear the plastic cover off under the passenger kick panel it's in the center left area and on a little metal slide holder.
I'll get pics if i get a chance |
why would you want to turn off your auto headlights anyway? Its a nice feature imo. Just so you can brag that you played with the wiring in your car? Sure there are a few minor things not to be liked about it, but they are far outweighed by the benefits.
We once had a man come in the shop demanding for us to take off the feature on his car that turned the headlights on when he had his windsheild wipers going. We refused, its illegal to have your lights off with wipers on anyways. Some things need not be meddled with imho. |
Could you get some pictures up?
Thanks |

ummmmmmm k yet again it's personal preference, I don't need my lights for every minute of shade or at dusk, if I use anything I can run my fogs and parking lights. what are the perks? i suppose 1) less usage on the bulbs = longer life, same for drl being disabled 2) one less draw on the system in case of charging system problems problems 3) Removed for content...joke or not, it is not tolerated -Aleromod Staff :lol2: |
what is so hard about pulling the DRL fuse? this fuse also controls your automatic headlights if i am correct.

it's a large benefit for serious audio fanatics. That's why i did it. I bought the kit several years back though, and i can turn mine back to stock at the flip of a switch, although i never do. lol then again, i never drive my alero either soooo |
who are the moderators for this little sub section of the forum again?
just curious since I'm wondering what i said that was so disturbing it had to be deleted from the site and naich, if it isn't you, get a better hold on your moderaters. this poop has been and is still ridiculous |
what about disableing your DAYTIME running lights? anyone know how?
|
find the other thread about DRL natedawg

I disabled DRL's a long time ago, pull the relay for them and then seperate the black case off the relay. Inside you'll see what looks like a little contact point. That piece is what is triggered and makes the connection. Wedge a small piece of paper in there to dumb the relay into thinking it made a contact and voila |
does this mod enable the use of your fogs in park?
|
You can buy the DRL kit from ZZP, i just bought one.

when you switch to just parking lights your fogs are available |

Good luck getting pictures on this thread...I have been on the site for almost 2 years now and I have never seen the original poster on the site since I have been here, this is an older thread that I used for reference, it says in the top left corner of every post and this thread was last commented on july 28,2006 |

I'd prefer NOT to have auto headlights because they don't turn on your tail lights, which means that you forget to turn those one because your headlights are on so you don't think about it. You end up driving around with your headlights on and tail lights off. |
