I got mine from
http://www.1aauto.com/1A/wheel-beari...Alero/-/-/2002
bought the pair for 189 over 4 years ago think i only paid 160 though
after a year i had to replace the passenger side after 2 years the driver.
knock on wood!! so far the replacements have lasted longer then the OEM ones which i had replaced every year with GM warranty.

Did you use the updated nut or the stock nut?

What did you use to torque that spindle nut? The torque on that nut exceeds most torque wrenches...

Use the updated axle nut so the torque is less and go to AutoZone to buy the Timken Hub. Timken bearings are the highest rated. I think the hub is about 120ish there.

The SKF's I bought came with the updated nut.

Where is this highest rating BS coming from? SKF is a stellar bearing manufacturer and no less than Timken... Timken subs out so much of their work anymore who knows who even makes the bearings let alone assembles them.

the sfks had new nut so whats average time they last for aleros a year?

Gr1m 11-15-2011 09:47 PM

i was swapping them out on my bagged alero close to every year. the air ride chews through hubs and cv joints like they are going out of style though

now i gotta see how hard it is to get the 3 year warranty honored :/

Are these SKF bearings made in China?

Just an FYI, but Delco really isn't that much. I would say the extra few bucks is worth only doing this every 6 years or so...lol I have only changed one yet, the driver's side, and the passenger side has 220k on it and almost 12 years of driving!

You did one side without doing the other side????

I still have the original wheel bearings on my 1995 Ford Escort at ~205K miles.

Yup, two years ago.... lol
