5 speed verification?
so in my boredom, I found a guy posting this for sale close to me... I have emailed him to see if I can get more info, but thought I'd see if anyone can ID the transmission from the picture...
copied from the ad: "5 speed transmission for 1988-1994 Cavalier & Sunbird. Trany came out of 1991 Cavalier 3.1L V6, with 115000 km on it , in excelent condition, no noise , no syncro grinds shifts very smoth, Trany comes with shifter cables, shifter, cv axles, flywheel and Centerforce dual friction clutch that has 15000km on it, clutch slave with master .all the parts are in very good condtion" at this time I am tempted, but not sold on it... just really curious... |
If you do, many headaches await you.
Just ask Ryan or Nate. |
I agree.

I figured as much, but then got to thinking, that I have a 5 speed ld9 here that I could use for pieces if I needed... again, it is just a thought process at this point, one of those is this a deal or not kinda thing... but I need to know the transmission first...

I wouldn't get it unless you can find a 3.1 MPI Corsica, or Buick. The f23 is the way to go in a big body car.

In 91 the cavalier/sunbird were pretty much the same size as our car's.... maybe about 500lbs lighter....

Agreed, and I had a lot of headaches before that. I honestly thought that all the headaches were pretty much past when I sold it. The axles were a big issue for me, as well as measuring and lining up for the custom mounts. Looks like a getrag-282 to me. |
