well, im about to get my exhaust done, i've bought the muffler and cat and tips and everything myself so i can get the best deal i can possibly find....and i know when alot of people say they got their exhause done it's cost them around 250 total, how much should it cost me JUST to get the stuff installed and welded up, since i aleady have it.....just an approximation would be great :thanx:

ptrudel 07-12-2005 08:08 AM

shouldn't be too much...MAYBE $100 or so...cuz it cost me$300 CAD for everything(parts, labour, taxes)

Vtolds 07-12-2005 09:05 AM

Except they will most likely charge more labor becuase your not using there parts.

everyone in the US does that I dont know about Canada but down here theres a good chance that he may get charged up to 20 dollars more a hour. I know my mechanic charges something like 10 or 15 more dollars a hour if you bring your own parts.

 That's retarded :shout: ...why would they do that?...the only logical explination is that they are getting some kind of kick back from whomever they get the part from...or even getting the part at a very cheap price and then jacking the price up when you purchase it... :glare: it still sucks though.

sound_xtreme 07-12-2005 11:50 AM

jackal2000 07-12-2005 11:59 AM

doubleN0alero 07-12-2005 03:03 PM

$80 to get it welded up there and get the pipes re-bent so they actually fit out the little holes in the back of tbe bumper.

the guy who did mine said that leaving it on gives a better sound :wtf: and mine does sounds deep like a new GTO

alero_ecotec 07-13-2005 02:32 PM

they guys on j-body say the resonator will just give a less buzzy sound, slightly deeper, and not quite as loud, and the larger the resonator the more of that effect it will have

cgriffin 07-13-2005 03:15 PM

ALSO I HEARD THAT IN SOME RESIDENTIAL AREAS YOU CAN GET A TICKET AND WILL HAVE TO REPLACE YOUR MUFFLER,IF TO LOUD... NOT SURE IF IT'S TRUE. I HAVE NOT HAD A PROBLEM.

alero_ecotec 07-13-2005 03:29 PM

watch the caps  ......but yeah, you can be ticketed for an exhauast that's too loud, but it's all really up to the cop and if he feels like it, the only people that i know who have problems with getting ticketed are people with straight pipes on big trucks and some of those hondas with like 4" exhaust around here, but it's still rare

cgriffin 07-13-2005 03:44 PM

:gun: it serves those hondas good lol..

ptrudel 07-14-2005 09:24 AM

it depends on the cop, like ^^he said....my cutlass, i got a ticket on because well, the cop's a rooster...with the alero, i've been strait pipe twice(once wasn't by choice  ) and i've never been bugged...
