2.3 head worth buying?
 

So today I went to the junk yard after having seen a couple of quad 4 cars a day before. So did my home work and researched extensively before going back today. I found a 95 car which I’m hoping to get the intake cam off and an 89 2.3 head not 086 but still 2.3 head and cams(not lgo but ld2 cams). So my question is, will the 2.3L head be worth buying? Or other engine assembly parts?

Most other 2.3 heads don't flow any better than a ported 2.4 head. Even recent tests have found that a 2.4 head can flow as good as an 086 head.

okay but how much will a ported 2.4 head go for?

50 dollar junkyard head.... or a 500 pro ported head... my choice is clear!

yeah same thing i was thinking, 2.3 head. but it still requires some work done on it though.

Depends on if it is an 086......086 head raises compressions lot. By at least 2 points if I remember correctly

Yes but you will need to tune for the large diffrence
