EGR delete

has anyone done a egr(exhaust gas re-circulation) delete? If so how is it done

Basically, you need a plug for the EGR port in the exhaust manifold, a block-off plate for where the EGR valve bolts to the intake plenum, and then you should program the PCM to disable the EGR functions. Be aware that deleting your EGR might cause a slight drop in fuel economy.

Milzy sells block offs. I blocked mine. But you will throw an engine light unless you tune it out.

You will not see/feel any performance gain.
While I can't speak for Nathan, I mainly did it because there is not an EGR provision on my MMS headers.

No gains. Just a cleaner/healthier intake. My upper intake after a year of no EGR was spotless compared to running an EGR.

You will have an engine light unless you tune it out.

If you do an EGR without a tune does it JUST throw a code? Or does it affect performance of the engine/driveability?

You may see a decrease in fuel economy.

sleepyalero 05-09-2017 08:20 AM

Yeah. With no egr and my mods i was getting 29mpg highway. Aside from that. Your car will run fine.

"Tuning" it out means using Hptuners to turn off the warning light and engine light codes so you dont see the messages. If you dont "tune" it out. All you will have is a CEL. Thats it. So you dont HAVE to tune it.

My mpg isn't bad at all. For a everyday driver. If I drive it nice I can get a full tank to last me over a week.

I do have a six speed instead of the four speed auto...and a 3.5..But I don't think there is much of a difference in the motors.
