My Alero
 

Hey everyone!
I've been on the board for a few years now. Gotten a lot of help from members here fixing my Alero and helped some people fix theirs. I'm here to show off my Alero. It's nothing impressive, just a daily driver, but hey it's mine. Been paid for since 2014. Bought it used in 2012 with 133k on it. Since then I've done many repairs as the previous owner seemed to not know anything about how to own a car.
I've done these repairs
1. LIMG x 2 (always make sure the bolts that go into the heads are corrosion free)
2. Plugs and wires
3. Thermostat and all cooling hoses
4. EGR
5. MAF
6. Coolant flush
7. Alternator - Stock amp, Remy
8. Serpentine Belt tensioner, idler pulleys and the belt - all Gates
9. Battery
10. Transmission fluid change and filter
11. All new lights in the front and most in the rear
12. Front control arms, sway bar links, wheel bearings, and brakes
13. Rear quik-strut assemblies from Monroe
14. All new audio courtesy of pioneer, jvc and mtx, tsumani and PAC


I think that about wraps it up. Good thing I'm a mechanic by trade lol

Definitely needs some cleaning but other than that looks solid!

Looks good! Busy making a list of things I want to do with Izzy when I am able to and will post pictures when done!

Well maintained, other than being dirty, but not modded. Still a clean cut factory car. I like :thumb:

yea it's factory and has gotten a bath since I took those pictures. Only mod is the sound system because lets face it, stock audio sucks in most cases. Plus my rear 6x9's both blew a hole in the cone shortly after i got the car. I need to clean the engine bay, used to live on a dirt road. Not sure the best way to do that.

What's that between the gauge cluster and the middle vents?

A hot blonde chick in a bikini from my Snap-On calendar taped to the dash with electrical tape.

I was hoping to use a pressure washer. Wipes are not going to do much for that engine. I was hoping I could clean under the upper intake where I spilled some oil.

These are the pictures. They are covering up holes where I drilled into the dash trying to mount my new horn button. (freaking stupid copper ring issue) Ended up mounting it under the E-brake handle in the trim panel for the shifter.

I guess you could cut some pieces out of a junkyard dash, and make overlays to cover the holes, since it's a work in progress.

That's more work then I care to put into body work on an old daily driver. Cosmetics don't matter. Plus who will complain about looking at boobs while driving? It's not a work in progress. I make the repairs it needs and that's it. My Alero is nothing special. Just a cheap, paid for car that runs and drives. That's all I care.

I agree! Like I state in my other post. Who doesn't like looking at boobs while driving?

You should NEVER add water to the engine bay. A damp cloth would be ok, That's usually what I use to scrub then go over it with some magiuers wipes. Pouring a bucket of water over the engine could leave water in places it shouldnt be. Let alone a pressure washer, you could force water deeper into bad places. I would steer clear of doing that.

I believe it was andys auto sport that had dash covers back in the day. Dont know if they still do, but they had different colors and things. I think they were around $80 a few years ago, may be more or less now if they still have them.
