Previous CF cowl hood owners

I am getting a CF cowl hood finally in 2 weeks, and i had a quick question. Matt (mfuller) has suggested that it would be good to run hood pins. As i can agree to an extent. Whats your take? Should i be running hood pins with this hood, and yes.. I like to to go fast sometimes. Any suggestions or info would be greatly appreciated. It would suck to run pins, but the added safety would be worth saving the hood and the windshield during a fly up situation.

I would have to agree with Matt and say that it would be a good idea to run hood pins. Most of the guys I've seen that have CF hoods are running them. If nothing else it just gives you that added piece of mind. Especially since you like to go fast sometimes lol.

They would work but make the hood look like Shit

Exactly what I was telling Sleepy earlier. What's the point of getting this rare hood only to completely ruin the lines with tacky hood pins?

sleepyalero 09-20-2015 05:22 PM

Well see thats the issue here, i DONT want to ruin to hood, but i also dont want the damn thing flying up on me and destroying the hood, at the track or on a very spirited drive on the highway late at night... I just want to here some advice from current/previous owners.

But if i got hood pins, they would probably be these because they are the least tacky.

Those don't actually look too horrible.... on my hood i made sure there was as little gap as possible between the headlights/bumper and the hood itself to minimize the chance of air getting up under it.... I've also thought of making it a functional cowl by trimming some of the interior and the lip by the windshield.... i wonder if that extra bit of air flow would help with the down force outside to keep it down??

sleepyalero 09-20-2015 07:50 PM

Possibly. I plan to make it functional.

Those look Hotttttt !

sleepyalero 09-20-2015 09:16 PM

You really like them? Lmao

tw0123 09-20-2015 09:42 PM

Only thing i can see with these is the look flatter than what our hood is at the edge where they'd need to go.... might not sit flush and could still wreck the hood

Better than 2 pins sticking out of the hood

yeah the locking one are wayy too expensive... but the minis are affordable

sleepyalero 09-21-2015 07:21 PM

I saw those.... Way to damn expensive.

That01Olds 09-21-2015 09:37 PM

Yeah, not saying it would look good, but I'd personally rather be safe than sorry when it comes to the hood and windshield lol. What you posted towards the top of the thread doesn't look bad. I would probably go with that if I was going to do it, but that's just me. It would at least be better than nothing that's for sure. Ultimately it's up to you though man.

sleepyalero 09-21-2015 11:38 PM

Yeah, with how rare this hood is. I really dont want a fly up to happen and it get destroyed... Then i would never have one again unless i had one made from scratch. Lol
