Color change

Hey I have been thinking of changing the color of my alero to smoke gray. I think it will go great with the tint. Then all I would have to do is the interior.

I guess I wanted some opinions. You have done a color change. Did you paint the engine bay, door jams and trunk, or just the door jams?

ppgnut 07-23-2006 04:39 PM

to put it bluntly is sounds to me that ya don`t have a clue about body/paint work so iam going to clue you in

what you are asking to have done will cost roughly 3,000 if not more and that`s what i start off at and go up in price
to do the job correctly all moldings, fenders, bumpers, all head lights, and tail lights 1/4 glass removed, front and rear windshields removed, doors off, deck lid off, rocker panel moldings off, and anything that can be removed from the enigine bay to make it go easier

allot of work, fixing dents chips scratches, labor rates are high, cost of material is high, so paying the above mentioed price is not OUT OF THIS WORLD in my field you get what ya pay for bottom line
ya want cheap it will look and last cheap
ya want quality you will pay for it

burg03 07-24-2006 03:15 PM

Ok ok I didnt mean to play on your brain power bro.

Last time I checked I didnt say anything about price, and no I dont work in a bodyshop. However I do work at a ford dealership, and I do fix fords for a living. I really cool with the bodyshop here, so all the materials and labor will be heavily discounted, and yes it well be done right.

Umm I'm going to take a stab in the dark and say he wants to change it to smoke gray. But then again I'm just basing my response on his first post telling us he wants to paint it smoke gray. But keep in mind, I'm just guessing! ;)

Btw, I think smoke gray would look sharp with tint. I think smoke gray and black look best with tinted windows! Good Luck Burg03! :)

doubleN0alero 07-24-2006 05:53 PM

oops...my bad, i really need to lay off the crack...

olds_03 07-24-2006 07:30 PM

Yeah, might be an idea! ;)

Kurt Zee 07-24-2006 09:24 PM

i think smoke grey would look pretty good! if i had the money i would love to get mine painted a charcoal grey with a little bit of flake in it. what's your tint %?

(i think THAT'S the kind of answer he was looking for.....)

El Pablo 07-24-2006 10:32 PM

sounds sexy

AlbinoMonkeyRat 07-25-2006 12:51 AM

can you post a pic of a car that's smoke gray? I'm having a tough time mentally visualizing it...could look good, I guess.

Steel gray (stock color for 03 and 04 aleros) looks PIMP with DARK tints and chrome wheels...

olds_03 07-25-2006 04:29 PM

I think it'd be close to that color, wouldn't it?

AlbinoMonkeyRat 07-25-2006 05:22 PM

well, Steel gray was more of a "medium" shade of gray. I don't know if smoke gray is lighter or darker...which is why I'm asking. if it's darker, then hells yeah, that would be pimp. but anything significantly lighter is kinda lame...stretching towards the "my car is silver, but I haven't washed it in a while" look.

olds_03 07-25-2006 05:36 PM

Well when I hear smoke gray, I'm thinking of a charcoal gray. But I could be wrong. Get some pictures of this color Burg03!

forbidden 07-25-2006 10:19 PM

I say go for it.. Sounds like a good color for it

burg03 07-26-2006 12:35 PM

thanks for the support eveyone. I work at a ford dealership. I am getting the color off the newer cars/trucks that has been coming out.I will get some pics off some cars, but for now its on the new f150. I guess we can say its charcoal. Its a really dark grey with a metal flake......awsome.

alero440 07-26-2006 12:46 PM

grand ams and grand prixs come in that color. I think the newer aleros came in that color too. I see one here in my town and I get guess cuz I love that color, but red suits my personality best.

burg03 07-26-2006 08:26 PM

thats cool whatever makes you feel better

SweetNLow 07-26-2006 10:27 PM

it will look like the dark silver color on soundxtremes car people
