going for some QA1's for the back. Anybody got a stock unsprung height on springs? Looking to get about 450 spring rate at stock height.
yeah, I know, trip to the dentist coming up, soon as I hit the first bump. Basically I know alot of ya have put on aftermarket springs and might have a set of stockers to measure for me if you dont mind. Also, I.D. at the perches too please. |

i can check for ya tomorrow, are all four the same, if not how do i recognize the rears so i know i get the right numbers for ya?

rears are skinnier. fronts are fat.

Just measured it Blackack, rear springs unsprung, (the skinny one) is 15 1/8" tall.

DIAAM you must have a dentist in the family with the rating. I think we figured about 350/300 F/R for a really stiff setup at one point. 450 lb is gonna be like a solid post. On the up side you wont have any of that rear end squat ;)

thanks alerored, I appreciate that. I know it's alot to ask, but can you also measure the coil diameter at the perch ends, so I can make sure the ones I buy are not to big or small in diameter...
FastEddie, yeah, that's the idea. No squat in back. Basically I've already got the fabrication in progress, but I'll have a reasonable (250 lb) spring rate in the front, and I'm using aircraft cables with pins that I'll insert once I get to the track that will hold the front end down (stop downward travel since we have no snubbers)and keep weight over the front end, and also prevents the CV's from getting out of their normal 90* angle from the tranny. This will prevent torque loss from geometrical changes at the axles, and also from the front end raising and back end squatting. |

just measured it, the perch end (the narrow end, i believe) is 3 5/8" the other end for comparison is 5" even. So you know i measured from the outside of the stock that the spring is made from, so the very outside of the metal to the same spot on the other side.

no problem man, glad i could help out, i figure its a 30 ft walk from my bedroom to the garage and the tape measure is in a drawer on the way, i might as well help out where i can. Im just curious but why are you looking at going stock ride height? more travel? ground clearance? or just easier to get? I was just wondering for curiosities sake.

dropping the front end, keeping the back end stock height. This will force more of the overall weight over the front tires and help with traction. The stiffness of the springs I'm going to use just keeps the back from squatting on launch and causing me to lose traction even more.
