My 1/4 mile times.

Well this thread will be for my 1/4 mile times, i will update the first page to tell where my new times are in the thread so no one has to dig.

Page 1 - July 24, 2013 track times.
Page 4 - August 14, 2013 track times.

Well, went to the track with the car for the first time ever. Still need to get used to launching on the strip, fastest run was a 15.1 with a .3xx RT, gas tank was almost on E, and i wheel hopped like a SOB out the hole. So once i go a few more times i can get it down better, but heres slips in order. First 2, almost on E, second 2 times, was running a 1/4 tank.

Oh best RT was is on last slip, .134 :D first slip was my first time ever going down the track, so i suffered a .6xx RT.

But heres track slip times, after that ill post some cars i saw there as well.

And for cars...

Copo camaro

Well enjoy. Hoping for better times next time.

Wow man pretty good time!!!! I woupd prob be in the 14s if that's what your runnin lol

sleepyalero 07-25-2013 12:25 AM

Lol your car is basically stock, take it to track bet it does 15.6 or so ;)

AleroB888 07-25-2013 01:11 AM

Very impressive! Congrats! The tranny is really doing it's job. What rpm did you launch at? Looks like you might need some slicks

Well, i was jumping around trying to get a feel for it since these 4 passes are the first time ive been on a track, the fastest time i launched at around 1500 or so... And got MASSIVE wheel hop out the hole. But strangly ran the fastest time. First one was about 1800, then 3rd i believe was 1300 or so. Then the last i did kinda like i was pulling out of a stop light.

Slicks are an idea. Im sure i could launch the car better around 1500-1800 rpm if i slipped the clutch a little more to prevent the wheel hop out of the hole. Sadly, with so many people there i only got to do 4 passes. So not much room to investigate fully with everything, on the street i can launch pretty well. But this crazy pavement has me trying to find the best way to launch nicely.

Looks like a stock 3400 alero will do a 15.9... I would think with my mods and my tune i would be in the high 14's but maybe its just me. Im sure i could get it in the 14.9 if i got angood launch and my tank was on E again. Slicks would also be beneficial.

Edit: did some digging, since im running baer brakes. And really dont want to swap brakes for drag judt to run a 16 or 15 inch wheel with DR's or slicks, i fogure my best option for now is 2 17" rims for the front and a pair of Nitto NT555R extreme drag radials.... Thoughts?

02AleroGLS 07-25-2013 09:28 AM

Sadly ive only ran my alero on the 1/8th mile track and the fastest i can get is 10.250. I feel like it runs slower in the 1/8th with the headers

JLw7123 07-25-2013 10:24 AM

wow not bad sleepy. Also 02AleroGLS did you get a tune after you installed the headers.

jackal2000 07-25-2013 12:38 PM

All that work for a 15.2 lol I feel your pain.

This one looks good on paper:

cavedewler 07-25-2013 02:31 PM

Not bad for a beginner right?

03Sleepr 07-25-2013 02:40 PM

What did you shift at? Get some smaller wheels and slicks and go break 14s..

3800l67gam 07-25-2013 03:02 PM

My car stock runs an 11.32 in the 1/8th but when I put my cold air intake on it ran a 10.350 now with my turbo cam I run almost into the 9's but I can't find the slip

15.1 ;) im not to worried. The car will run most likely 11's one day :) plus it wheel hopped on me quite a bit. Once i get launch down im sure i can trap a better time.

There we go! Just need 2 though. :)

Looks like it will be 439$ for 2, just have to find 2 17inch wheels for the front as well that will fit the tire.

I want to mainly leave it the way it is other thrn front slicks because i want to see what it runs on the track as the car is when driven on street.

I shifted at 5800

Redog 07-25-2013 06:11 PM

You shifted way too high.

14's are there, the only time I hit 90+ in the 1/4 was when I hit 14's as well.

.134 rt for a first timer is unheard of, great job

Thanks on the RT! :)

02AleroGLS 07-25-2013 06:42 PM

No i never did get another tune cause i dont have 3 weeks worth of down time to wait for. My pcm to come back again. I lost alot of throttle response and ALOT of gas mileage with the headers.

sleepyalero 07-25-2013 06:50 PM

Odd, i have great TR... And have full exhaust from heads back. Maybe you got a low ball tune.

jawa 07-25-2013 07:22 PM

try running your stock wheels, i shaved almost a full second by doing so, bigger wheels means more weight, the less rotating mass the better

sleepyalero 07-25-2013 07:57 PM

I dont have stock wheels nor would they fit most likely with my 13" baer rotors

02AleroGLS 07-25-2013 08:22 PM

Im headed to the 1/8th mile track now too test again

Redog 07-25-2013 08:45 PM

13 inch rotors require 17 inch wheels.

I'm not too sure about the shift points. 5800 is way too high, I'd say around 5 grand, maybe 5200 or so. After a certain point in the RPM scale, the car stops making power and starts to fall off.

Spinning off the line? Those 60' are pretty bad. On a hot day when Redog is turning a 15.6 it's getting those kinds of 60's My best 60 was 2.09

Yeah i wheel hopped on like 3/4 launches lol. And okay ill try shifting a little lower next time.

Plus it spins/chirps a little going into second gear.

It was 73* out, last run it was about 67*.

I hopped mostly through 1st gear, but i didnt let out, yet ran my fastest time of a 15.1

Redog 07-25-2013 09:23 PM

Once your spinning, forget about a good time, doesn't matter what you do.

73 and 67 are real good temps for racing, what was the humidity and baro pressure. The lower the baro pressure, the denser the air, the fast run times. 30.00 is "sea level" baro pressure.

Yeah your going to need "racing" tires. I'm going to be picking up Connti DWS in stock size. Only $124 a tire and rated number 2 in the catagory

Yeah i cant really help the second gear chirp. Lol maybe better tires will help for track, im looking at what b888 suggested on page 1. Hoosier drag radial tires, with 17" rims.

As for humidity and all, im not so sure, i didnt check that.

02AleroGLS 07-25-2013 10:25 PM

Ok im at the track and the first run i ran was a 10.379 @ 69.27mph with a .7537 RT. 2nd run was 10.329 @ 69.71mph with a .5715 RT.

sleepyalero 07-25-2013 10:49 PM

Work on them RT's!

jawa 07-25-2013 10:52 PM

work on dat wheel hop

02AleroGLS 07-25-2013 11:00 PM

It bogs really bad from 0-15mph then it picks up.

^^ lmao... talking about the other guys almost 1 second RT...

02AleroGLS 07-26-2013 12:10 AM

No its not spinning. Its like not enough torque

You need a new tune, and not from mpracing...

02AleroGLS 07-26-2013 12:35 AM

Where should I get it from ?

sleepyalero 07-26-2013 12:37 AM

Milzy or wot tech

02AleroGLS 07-26-2013 01:40 AM

Ok would they allow me to use my pcm to let them tune? Jw

Redog 07-26-2013 02:54 AM

They will send you a new PCM with a tune, then you send them your old one. You have to pay a core charge

sleepyalero 07-26-2013 02:55 AM

^ bingo
