Pulling?????
dropped crossmember to replace rack and pinion, new power steering lines, control arms, sway bar bushings and links, front struts, caliper brackets bolts, and hubs all around.
and... cant say it was fun at all... well now i get a pull to left during acceleration and pull to the right when i let go of the gas.. it dosen't do it while coasting example with cruse control on holding speed if it slows to much and tries to add speed it pulls left once it stops trying to match speed it pulls right had brakes plus do rotation and balance of tires and alignment any ideas??? other thing is one knock i can feel in pedal and shift knob for acceleration and one knock once i apply the brakes every now and then i get a knock in a tight turn... all bolts are to torqued to spec. i double checked today all except the sway bar bushing bolts dont feel like needing to drop the crossmember again |
either something isnt together right, or you need another alignment

my car did the EXACT samee thing for weeks. lower control arm bolts were missing the nuts!

Start looking EVERYTHING over

Bad ball joint or torn control arm bushing can cause this.
|
Loose rack can cause s e noise too. You would think they would have noticed something like this doing the alignment. I can't imagine it was easy to line it up with something with enough play to cause a pull. Did it pull before or after the alignment?
|
it was pulling before i replaced everything
and since i had it apart thats why i decided to replace everything i could get to the alignment was done after. it started doing it again. already replaced both sway bar links because one split. every bolt i could get to has been checked its not as bad as when it first started but its still quite noticeable and very annoying when accelerating down the hwy. from what i can tell i have a bad rear trans mount i may have someone else change those out since i will want all of them changed and i dont feel like doing it myself this time.. well thats untill i see the quote... i may have to if its gonna run way to much $$$ |
alll said and done loose control arm bushings
so anyone else having this happen leave car at curb weight(on the ground) loosen both control arm bushing bolts then retighten to Torque specs Front(horizontal) : 60 N·m (45 lb ft) plus 180° rotation Rear(Vertical) : 100 N·m (74 lb ft) plus 180° rotation |
