I just noticed that on my engine coolant tank that the third hose on the upper right side isn't connected anywhere, is this the case in others cars? The tank hasn't been able to hold any coolant and I've tried to get this checked @ my dealer but they want to charge me!

To answer my question, is the third hose coming off the coolant tank connected to another crucial place on the engine or radiator?

No, it shouldn't be connected to anything.

Should just be a vent or an overflow. Which doesn't make much sense for there to be a "pressure cap" (10 or 15 psi) on the coolant tank if there's an open-air vent off the side of the coolant reservoir. Anyone wanna take a shot as to why it's there?

Most of the coolant in the system is in the radiator, heater core, etc...not in the tank at any given time. It's really just an overflow tank. Gotta have extra coolant in the system to keep air out of it and keep pressure the same.

As for the coolant problem, I assume you've got some on the ground, right? Where's it seem to be coming from?

No coolant on the ground! I just wanted to make sure that I wasn't the only one wondering about that third hose because I sware the hose was connected somewhere else! This isn't an issue no matter what year the car is?

I'll be posting a WTB for a engin coolant tank because I can't get the bottom of the cap off !
