Has anyboy ever used an APC or similar LED tailight bulb replacement? Is it brighter? Does it look cool?

Yes, mine are definately brighter, and they do look pretty cool from behind.

They are definately harder to see I think, the brake lights don't light up very much at all. I've got the new matrix brake lights with about 25 leds per bulb. People tell me they can hardly tell the difference between my brake lights and my park lights. The 3rd brake light is VERY bright though.

FormulaNERD 02-11-2005 09:28 PM

the matrix ones from autoilumination.com?

Screamin eagle 02-11-2005 09:31 PM

yeah, they would be ok if our lenses were deeper I think

FormulaNERD 02-11-2005 09:38 PM

hmmm, that sucks, i thought they'd be really good. i have cheap apc ones, and they are way brighter... just nothing shining into the lense, straight forward.

right now i just have them in the center tails, and everyone says it looks like snake eyes, i want a wider beam, but i guess they wont be as bright.

oh well, wont have the car much longer anyway.

Screamin eagle 02-11-2005 11:26 PM

the matrix ones aren't worth the extra money. I guess there are about 19 leds that face to the rear versus 15 on my cheapy bulbs. I was really hoping that the leds that are supposed to shine in the reflector would only light when the brakes were applied, haven't been able to find those anywhere though.

FormulaNERD 02-11-2005 11:38 PM

yea, it would work alot better like that.

Screamin eagle 02-12-2005 01:20 AM

Dig. cam's can't capture LED lights that well. You sorta have to trust someone with them

OrangeALero 02-12-2005 11:28 AM

i should buy some

rmulax19 02-12-2005 01:13 PM

i put in the APC ones as soon as i bought my car and it blew half the fuses in my fuse panels. maybe it was a bad set but who knows...

What did you install in the 3rd brake light? I'd like to get mine to light up like that.

FormulaNERD 02-12-2005 11:06 PM

it's a third brake from an impala/monte carlo.
