I wouldnt buy that kit the guy seems clueless. "I was told it works"
Yeah no thanks. If you arent sure it works I wouldnt want it. |
I was kinda skeptical myself. Looked more like a turbo and some plumbing, but it didn't look like an M90 to me.
Would the LX9 uppers bolt straight on to the 3400? |
yep top swap is basically everything on top of the shortblock...
try to do a search 3500 top swap, I'm sure there is a couple of guys that did it |
So I could get the LX9 heads, plenum and lower, and all I would need then is new bolts (especially head bolts)?
What kind of power/efficiency difference could I expect from a LX9 top swap? |
I'm pretty sure that you'll be able to find some info by doing a search
|
That's what I'll do, til I find a way to supercharge it. LX9 top swap. I looked it up, and for the 3500 top swap kit from Milzy, $850 + s/h. Already ported, comes with gaskets.
|
Yup. Just do a 3500 swap. To get most power. A tune will help
|
If a 3500 plenum will bolt straight on, I might just go pluck one (the tb, intake hose and air box too) from the junkyard next weekend.

Milzy has a 4T65 HD swap kit for $3,349.99. Comes with the mounts, rebuilt 4T65HD, custom axles, transmission cooler lines and plug-n-play wiring harness adapter.
The gear ratio has been changed from 2.93 to 3.29, so it matches the N platform ratio. That would take care of the 4T65HD. Then, the s/c L67 would be the next step. |
Even with a custom LIM you don't have hood room for a charger on top. I couldn't even fit one with the bubble hood. Trust me I measured it every way possible. I was even using a smaller whipple which would outflow the m90 but smaller than the m62.

Yes the 3.29 FDR is used in the N body, but not the Alero. The 3.29 FDR is only in the GAGT, so a transmisson with an FDR of 3.29 is NOT plug and play, you'll need the HPTuners to change the FDR from 3.05 to 3.29 |
If I was going to drop that kind of cash anyway, another $400 or so wouldn't be so outrageous.
|
That makes no sense.....
