Na not really securing anything, you backed out last year and are saying your going next year. Typical response

BPO hasn't had a significant turnout relative to ASS because (a) location relative to the majority of Aleromod members and (b) the majority of folks around here on the east coast are a bunch of kitties. All talk and no action:

"ASS sounds cool but it's too far. I wish we had something like that around here."
"Yeah. That would be cool."
"Ooh, let's all have a northeast meet!"
"Yeah!"
"I'd come if we had one"
"Me, too!"
"Let's plan one"
"Yeah."
"Hey, guys, Raceway Park already has a date scheduled. An Olds class just for us. And we can race for cash and a trophy. We won't have to plan anything - just show up - everything's already taken care of."
"Umm...."
"What?"
"I dunno..."
"What don't you know?"
"I'd like to do a meet but I'm not interested in actually getting off my ass to go to one. I'd rather talk about it instead."
"Yeah, me, too. I'll also an all-talk no-action kitty."
"Idiots! This could easily be ASS EAST if people just manned up and showed up."

If Jackyll could drive several hours up from VA and stay over in a hotel last year for BPO '08, the rest of you dinks could drive less than 2 hours this year.

This isn't kittymod.com, it's Aleromod.com. Get in your Alero and show up!

As much as I agree, you and I both know this will NEVER happen, but I'm sure that people on here will still talk shit ;)

Chipmunk-Alero 10-13-2009 08:35 AM

My car is stock......really no point in going. Even if it is Bracket Racing.

Quoted so Mitch can see it. After all he's only won countless championships with cars that are 100% stock :rolleyes2:

kwhauck 10-13-2009 06:17 PM

same here.......bracket racing is about consistency, there is a bracket racer at bandimere that has a scion cube thing and runs consistent 22s and wins all the time.......

jackal2000 10-13-2009 06:26 PM

looks like it's the 3 of us again gents.

zoL 10-13-2009 06:43 PM

So what happens at this place?

Vic28 10-13-2009 08:34 PM

^^Not everybody has to race obviously... Atleast ppl can get together, have fun, race if they want, eat and get to know other alero owners....

Redog 10-14-2009 03:33 AM

^^ Yes this is true.

They do have a BOP car show as well and I think if your only going to show, it's cheaper. They also have a show and go class too ;)

I won this event last year. I beat a 12 second Cutlass in the final round. I beat a 10 second Cutlass in the first round. Both cars were on slicks ;)

My Alero is 100% stock as well, but that didn't stop me last year, nor will it this year. My car is also not in good enough condition (thnaks to the clear coat peeling away on the spoiler and rear bumper) to win any Show awards.

But I will be there racing the car and hanging with Ken, Jon, & whomever else shows.

And stock cars are indeed very consistent and consistency is king in bracket racing. I won a Points Championship in a 17-second 100% stock Camaro. I finished 2 points away from a 2nd Points Champinship in my 100% stock Daytona. I won an NHRA SportCompact National Event with my 100% stock Daytona.

And I'm going to win BPO '09 with my 100% stock Alero (I challenge thee, returning champion Redog, to a dual on the quarter mile! :p )

Redog 10-15-2009 03:25 AM

OK I'll flip you for lane choice

Heads I win, tails you lose ;)

Daytona 10-15-2009 06:57 AM

^Hahaha

Redog 10-15-2009 08:58 AM

Whoever voted for number 4 has my respect

MotorCity 10-15-2009 10:12 AM

too far for me :( i hate only being 16 i want to go to these things.. but ill be at ass :D

Daytona 10-16-2009 08:16 AM

^Been in your situation, too. But remember - good things come to those who wait.

Redog 10-17-2009 09:56 PM

I can understand for people in other parts of the country not going. If you wantto make the drive out for this that's awesome, but I totally understand.

We really don't have too many people in this part of the country, but it's the people that live about 2 or less hours from ASS and don't come to that that really get me

They put out flyers for the Buick portion and for the Pontiac portion, but not the Olds portion of the program since we tend to get fewer registrants than the other 2 makes.

Olds will be fielding classes at BPO, though, so don't worry about a thing.

Nate's Alero 10-18-2009 10:42 AM

huh, looks like fun, guessing there are a shit - ton of people there?

Daytona 10-20-2009 07:46 AM

^I hope so, though it looks like the Aleromod contingent will be sparsely represented (again).

Nate's Alero 10-20-2009 09:28 AM

Meh, do you need to register to show your car? Or is it like a "show up"deal. Reference for next year

Daytona 10-20-2009 08:38 PM

^You can pay at the gate to spectate or to race. No advanced sign-up necessary. I dont think there's any extra charge to Show the car in addition to attendance or racing.

jackal2000 10-23-2009 07:13 PM

Good luck guys!!! make us proud!!!

zoL 10-25-2009 06:38 PM

Nate and I were down there for like 3 hours (11am-2pm). Didn't see Jackal or Daytona, and Nate called Redog, it turns out, he PUSSIED OUT!!! (j/k lol), but I definitely had a good time, never been to a track before and saw some amazing cars.

We were charged $15 for spectator! We got scammed $3, eff.

of course, mom HAD to see the damned statue of liberty... we got lost in downtown Manhattan, got stuck in traffic on I-84 and it took us 8 hours to get home...

alero did well, 600 miles on 48 hours, Not bad for a 300$ car :coolio:

reason i left early, i got severe allergies, and was feeling real sick.

made it home.... on the way hone i gunned it and the low coolant light came on (oh noes)!

LOL, check that coolant man.
Where are the pics and track times from alero owners?

Daytona 10-25-2009 10:37 PM

You guys actually showed up? I did see one silver Alero w/ NY plates in the pits mid-morning but nobody near it. Jon and I parked against the return road fence by the ambulances (other side of the mini-tower adjacent to the car show area) since there was no other parking.

Ken was home sick. :( Jon got there late (after 11am) but I was there by 9:30am. But after seeing his passenger (I'll let Jon reveal her name if he desires), it was worth the wait. :scpimp:

The place was so packed, we didn't get our first time shot until Noon and then run #2 came @ 2:45pm. This was thanks to the Pontiac Show rain-out being rescheduled to today. WAY too many cars, plus they had almost 200 cars there just for test-and-tune.

They also combined the Buick and Olds classes into combined $ and Trophy-only classes, instead of having pure Olds classes like last year.

Jon lost 1st round (@ 3:30pm) in a close race in the B-O Trophy class and left around a half hour later. His plan was to drive straight back to VA non-stop. If he did, he got home before I did because...

I won Round 2 of the $ class @ 7:30pm (curfew time). Yeah, 4 hours in between rounds due to the ton of cars and all of the Pontiacs oiling down the track. By the time I got my payout & trophy and got my tires reinflated, and then got gas & drove the 45 minutes home, I didn't step foot in my house until 9:45pm.

There were 3 of us left in the B-O $ bracket at curfew. They were going to let us continue running if the 3rd guy was muffled, but he never returned to the lanes so we were forced to wait until all of the other muffled classes finished before they let us split money. Me and the 1 guy who showed each got $110.

My quickest run was the 1st one - 15.832 secs. @ 84.70mph. Had I known we were going to get 2 time shots I would have used the 1st one to go all out and push my car into the 15.7's (which was my goal this weekend anyway). But since we originally didn't think we were getting a 2nd time shot I ran the 1st one conservatively for dial. The other runs were 15.941 @ 83.88, 15.923 @ 85.35, and 16.701 @ 67.26 (ran a 18.50 sec. car and passed him half-track so I let off the gas). I'll post up slips when I have a chance to scan them in at work this week.

Daytona 10-25-2009 11:26 PM

And in case anyone was wondering, in regards to my ET's: my car's a 2002 GLS, full interior, bone stock, 3.4L w/ just under 74,800 miles, automatic trans, and OEM Eagle RSA's. Race weight with driver = 3,218 lbs.
