I have used three different whistler models and I've liked all of them looks, style, and sounds.

Radio shack has a nice one for under 50 bucks. Saw it today, would've gotten it if I wasn't already holding a Router, cables, and a new cam under my arms. >_<

I use a cobra in the front windsheild and a whistler in the back...no problems, and true 360 degree protection..lol both bought at walmart.

I have a whistler, it has kept me from getting a ticket for almost 8 years.

yep, i have a V1 and it works well!

alerocar01 05-08-2008 08:22 AM

Escort Passport 8500 X50. love it and works very well.

lonnie 05-08-2008 09:06 AM

I think if you have to pay over 100 bucks for a radar detector then you are driving entirely to fast.

cherrington17 05-08-2008 09:12 AM

... they still don't change the fact that you CAN be pulled over. you can just as easily go 800mph with a $10 or a $1k one. same result.

*crunch*

lonnie 05-08-2008 09:16 AM

^^absolutely true, If you have the money to blow like that then do you, but I can think of a lot of different ways to waste 300hundred bucks. If you are going to get pulled over I'd rather it be from my cheap 50 and 60 dollar radar detectors then getting pulled over with a 300 dollar one. JMO!

and when looking you want one that picks of laser also b/c radar is so old all the cops are changing.

cherrington17 05-08-2008 11:45 AM

laser guard doesn't work if your the only one in the area....

why not?

lonnie 05-08-2008 12:21 PM

Here's a website to answer many of everyones questions..also look at the bottom for the best radars under 100 bucks..will find very interesting.

http://www.radartest.com/

Also if it is a TRUE laser jammer it will work when you are alone, but even if a cop gets a scrambled speed on his lidar I'm sure he could put two and two together.

laser works instantaneously. most radar detectors will tell you if a laser goes off in the area... which, if your the only one, that means you just got tagged.

Yeah I misunderstood, Cherry is right! I don't know why I thought yall were talking about a radar detector with laser jamming.

goldalero99 05-08-2008 12:51 PM

The Valentine 1 and Escort Passport 8500 x50 are both good choices.

I run a whistler, and from time to time detectors in other cars set it off...you must get false alarms like crazy!
