My 1/4 mile times.
Well this thread will be for my 1/4 mile times, i will update the first page to tell where my new times are in the thread so no one has to dig.
Page 1 - July 24, 2013 track times. Page 4 - August 14, 2013 track times. Well, went to the track with the car for the first time ever. Still need to get used to launching on the strip, fastest run was a 15.1 with a .3xx RT, gas tank was almost on E, and i wheel hopped like a SOB out the hole. So once i go a few more times i can get it down better, but heres slips in order. First 2, almost on E, second 2 times, was running a 1/4 tank. Oh best RT was is on last slip, .134 :D first slip was my first time ever going down the track, so i suffered a .6xx RT. But heres track slip times, after that ill post some cars i saw there as well. And for cars... Copo camaro Well enjoy. Hoping for better times next time. |
Wow man pretty good time!!!! I woupd prob be in the 14s if that's what your runnin lol
|
Lol your car is basically stock, take it to track bet it does 15.6 or so ;)
|
Very impressive! Congrats! The tranny is really doing it's job. What rpm did you launch at? Looks like you might need some slicks

Well, i was jumping around trying to get a feel for it since these 4 passes are the first time ive been on a track, the fastest time i launched at around 1500 or so... And got MASSIVE wheel hop out the hole. But strangly ran the fastest time. First one was about 1800, then 3rd i believe was 1300 or so. Then the last i did kinda like i was pulling out of a stop light. Slicks are an idea. Im sure i could launch the car better around 1500-1800 rpm if i slipped the clutch a little more to prevent the wheel hop out of the hole. Sadly, with so many people there i only got to do 4 passes. So not much room to investigate fully with everything, on the street i can launch pretty well. But this crazy pavement has me trying to find the best way to launch nicely. Looks like a stock 3400 alero will do a 15.9... I would think with my mods and my tune i would be in the high 14's but maybe its just me. Im sure i could get it in the 14.9 if i got angood launch and my tank was on E again. Slicks would also be beneficial. Edit: did some digging, since im running baer brakes. And really dont want to swap brakes for drag judt to run a 16 or 15 inch wheel with DR's or slicks, i fogure my best option for now is 2 17" rims for the front and a pair of Nitto NT555R extreme drag radials.... Thoughts? |
Sadly ive only ran my alero on the 1/8th mile track and the fastest i can get is 10.250. I feel like it runs slower in the 1/8th with the headers
|
wow not bad sleepy. Also 02AleroGLS did you get a tune after you installed the headers.
|
All that work for a 15.2 lol I feel your pain.

This one looks good on paper: |
Not bad for a beginner right?
|
What did you shift at? Get some smaller wheels and slicks and go break 14s..
|
My car stock runs an 11.32 in the 1/8th but when I put my cold air intake on it ran a 10.350 now with my turbo cam I run almost into the 9's but I can't find the slip

15.1 ;) im not to worried. The car will run most likely 11's one day :) plus it wheel hopped on me quite a bit. Once i get launch down im sure i can trap a better time. Quote:
There we go! Just need 2 though. :) Looks like it will be 439$ for 2, just have to find 2 17inch wheels for the front as well that will fit the tire. Quote:
I want to mainly leave it the way it is other thrn front slicks because i want to see what it runs on the track as the car is when driven on street. I shifted at 5800 |
You shifted way too high.
14's are there, the only time I hit 90+ in the 1/4 was when I hit 14's as well. .134 rt for a first timer is unheard of, great job  |

What would you shift at? Thanks on the RT! :) |
No i never did get another tune cause i dont have 3 weeks worth of down time to wait for. My pcm to come back again. I lost alot of throttle response and ALOT of gas mileage with the headers.
|
Odd, i have great TR... And have full exhaust from heads back. Maybe you got a low ball tune.
|
try running your stock wheels, i shaved almost a full second by doing so, bigger wheels means more weight, the less rotating mass the better
|
I dont have stock wheels nor would they fit most likely with my 13" baer rotors
|
Im headed to the 1/8th mile track now too test again
