Like I recently stated I wanna get another Alero. I wanted a 5 speed, rather of had a 2 door with sunroof with the Ecotec, but the 2.4 would do. But would the 3.4 be better stock for stock against the other two? I love the looks of the 2 doors with sunroof. Theres this kinda ghetto dealership in my town that has a black 2 door with sunroof, but I dont know how much it is or what engine is in it or anything. I thought that the 3.4 Aleros ran mid 15's stock, but wanted to get it clarified. Thanks

mid to high 15's depending on where you are....elevation and all.

Redog 01-14-2006 05:58 PM

Stock, more like low 16's

bu01 01-16-2006 05:44 PM

my friends 04 ga se ran a 15.839 stock at bout 1000 feet

AlbinoMonkeyRat 01-16-2006 07:00 PM

1000 feet is just under 1/5 of a mile. what kind of track has a 1000ft track? I understand 1/8 mile, and 1/4 mile, and 400m...

SilverBullet256 01-16-2006 08:28 PM

all i have is a flowmaster muffler,(not full exhaust, muffler meck did it wrong in the beginning and never got it fixed) and a cold air intake and i ran a 15.75 in illinois and that is really low to sea level

silver bullet... what engine do u have and what intake?

SilverBullet256 01-18-2006 09:01 PM

well since this is the 3400 section then i woudl have to say the 3400 v-6, and i have an apoc CAI but i believe those arent made anymore but if i remember correctly either naich or doubleoalero are making them now, or i could be completely wrong, but they should be the same thing, or close, no difference in power gains bewteen mine and theirs

bought my 2002 Alero GL2 v6 one year ago at a used car dealership
found out it was TURBO'd, yes turbod
took it to RMR in West Valley, Utah
Dyno'd at 256whp
ran quarter in 13.45 @ 110 mph

went to GM Parts and asked what turbo fits on the engine, replied as NONE.

i showed them, they said it fits the 2003 Impala 3.4. the turbo has fabricated parts to fit the alero.

im HAPPY!!!! ;)

id take a picture, but i need to buy a digital camera first, then ill get it.

bu01 01-21-2006 04:09 PM

No need for a camera, I'd settle for just a scanned Dyno sheet.

SilverBullet256 01-24-2006 08:02 PM

yeah im a little reluctant about that cause for one, gm never made any turbo kit for the v-6's so they wouldnt know what car it fits on or not, if it even exists, and there is no way that the dealership would miss the turbo upgrade and mose likely wouldnt sell it that way or would sell it for more or at least advertise it as being modified, and two if i remember correctly there are only two turbo kits that work on our engines, and those are germs kit and the hp kit, and i dont think that a kit was made especially for the impala either, so no offence but ill believe it when i see it

remember folks, there is always a chance i could be completely wrong :alcoholic:

i'll throw the bullpoop flag......and on a side note i ran a 15.5 with SLP custom catback and civic CAI on heavy ass 18s and bald tires

Patch 02-12-2006 03:47 PM

15.1 on Z rated tires, CAI and full exhaust @ 690 above sea level. Stock engine, this is a GA though if it makes any difference????

1WhiteOSV 02-20-2006 01:49 PM

grand am's (GT) are faster stock vs stock than alero's...they have a different gear ratio that is much tighter so their acceleration is quicker....a stock GAGT runs as low as 15.1 and as high as 15.8........a stock GASE or Alero runs 15.6-16.2ish (the 3400's that is)

BRalero01 04-20-2006 01:13 PM

running in GA will actually decrease your time because of the normally higher humidity. the higher the water content in the air decreases the bang in your engine. i could swear i've seen track slips of 14.9 online when searching. don't quote me but i could swear that i have. an intake, a chip, exhaust...you could knock down times enough if you had it up around 250 hp

FormulaNERD 04-21-2006 06:15 AM

lmao. he said he owns a GA (grand am) not that he was racing in GA (georgia)

luckilero7 05-01-2006 11:39 AM

STOCK aleros with the 3400 will run low to mid 16's. Tires rating not the biggest factor but the slickness and stickiness is. I know i had the yokohama avs es100's and LOVED them. I got my alero to run 15.8 with forced cold air and weight loss and ok reaction times. GAGT's nuthing different that i know except "ram air" A fiend of mine had one and we raced completly stock and was neck and neck. Oh and you dont have to buy a turbo kit for any car, but u can put one together yourself to make it fit and work. Also an idea... the turbo.... doesnt have to be in the engine bay as it can be off the exhaust under the car even though a lil more work. Knew a guy with a ford escort turbod this way
