i need to change my brake pads not the rotors i was just wondering where you guys got them done and how much if you dont already do it yourself that is.

it`s pretty easy charlie
just make sure you have the rotors cut,and abs systems need to be bled on a x pattern
you first bleed the passenger rear first
drivers front
drivers rear
passenger front
that the way i was taught and still do it and no prob at all
and it depends on what kinda pads ya go with,and who cuts the rotors
generaly around 50 bucks i pay all together
if ya need help let me know

Its easy(with the right tools). I dunno how close u are to me, but u can always pick up the pads and bring it to my house and I'll show ya how to do it.

well i dont have tools or the skills to do it and i dont want to mess up my car thats why i'd like to have others that konw what they are doing do it for me, so i guess if you guys charge me less than brake shops i can come to you guys, and if you guys did help me what kind of pads should i get?

i want to get it done asap but after i come back from school which would probably be around 16th of may, i hear that squeal everytime i brake when the radio is changing songs :P

well for pads it depends on what you want, to keep the calipers clean go ceramic which are the best but costly, you can go factory replacement or or carbon metalic..either one will work but its based on what you want

Depending on where your at in chicago, if your closer to the northern suburbs, I could get some shop time at my grandfather's shop and lift you up...as long as we don't need any other mechanics to help out, it would be next to free. His shop is in Evanston off of Oakton and Skokie Blvd. I'll be back home for the summer this friday and just leme know I'll see what I can do, otherwise we can do it in my driveway or at my grandfather's driveway, he's got a set of car jacks 'n all the tools in his garage. I'm farther up north in Wheeling, 'bout 20 miles north of The loop.

I put Napa mid-grade pads on my front....prolly 30bux or so, I forgot. Takes no-time to do. I went with those cause I know I will be upgrading those front rotors soon anywho. You wont need ur rotors machined unless u went a bazzilion miles with worn-ass pads. I did mine at around 30-35K, and no need to machine.

Im not exactly sure of who u live closest too....but one of us will help ya out. I wouldnt charge ya.

i used Raybestos rotors and semi-metallic pads. i changed the rotors at around 33,000 miles. now have 91,000 on same rotors. i have changed pads once since then.

The rotors were $60/pc. pads were like $30. a little costly but a lot cheaper than a shop.

for you, i would go with ceramic because of your wheels. but depends on what your budget is.

damn i must not brake a lot or that hard b/c i have over 55,000 and this is the first time i need to do anything to the brakes... lol there's probably something majorly wrong that i just dont konw about

damn, thats realy close...lol...ya know where the old Builder's square was off of Oakton? My grandfather's shop is directly across the street, it's called L&K Auto Body but they do more than just body lol...I'll see what I can arrange.
