Some questions

Alright, i will be bringing in my car to get the speed sensor fixed, and a new ignition switch. while im getting that done i wanted to tell my mechanic to drain the tranny fluid and replace it......does it really matter if i get it flushed? or will just getting it drained and replaced be good? i have 63,000 miles and never had the fluid drained.

They won't just drain and fill it unless they don't have a machine. Flush is better with a tranny filter change too.

/\ What he said.

I think you should get a second quote

and how much are they charging for your transmission flush?

billytheman1188 06-05-2008 11:25 AM

im not getting the tranny flush yet. i decided to wait. the thing is, i cant find many places that will put headers on. and this looks like a good place to get it done. they do all kinds of performance shit for cars...idk, i just dont have the time to find other places..... gotta get this donnneeee

cherrington17 06-05-2008 11:44 AM

aren't headers like 900 to begin with? eff that! 1600 for one mod (that doesn't include a turbo) jeeze. bend over and take it billy.

You must have a lot of money you need to get rid of.

How much time would it take just to get a 2nd quote?

Wouldn't the extra hour or two to find and go to a different shop be worth it to save a couple hundred dollars?

And is it really necessary that you go to a performance shop? Any regular mechanic should be able to install headers, and they probably won't charge an arm and a leg.

blueolds01 06-05-2008 01:12 PM

you need to find some one who works out of there garage...

-Alero- 06-05-2008 03:52 PM

serioulsy, header isntall should be 150$ at the most

hell you can do it all you have to do is remove alternator, coil packs, and your intake......and some how chop the old exhaust off.......not entirely difficult just time consuming

billytheman1188 06-09-2008 06:26 PM

I GOT THE HEADERS PUT ON!!!! i noticed that my exhaust is A LOT quieter on the highway, in the city it has a nice deep tone.... I love it! Now i wanna drive all over the place:rolleyes2: and they sure do make the engine bay look a lot nicer:coolio:

Nice! what about a sound clip? and how does the car drive now (talking about performance)?

-Alero- 06-09-2008 07:03 PM

nice does it feel like a whole new animal?

billytheman1188 06-09-2008 11:25 PM

yes, the car feels NIIIICE. but now i have one problem. I got in my car 2 hours ago, turn the A/C on and then the car started idling weird. I started to drive it, and it didnt feel right. Then i tried to use my turn signal, and it didnt work. So i parked it and reved the engine a little and then all of a sudden the blinkers started to work (keep in mind this was with the A/C on), but the car still wasnt idling right. THEN i turned the A/C off and it was fine. Im thinking its a bad battery...... i gotta check the voltage when the car is running, can someone tell me what the voltage is supposed to be? I always forget that one.....lol. I will let you guys know how it drives on the way home WITHOUT the a/c on. But im pretty much 100% sure its a bad battery.

billytheman1188 06-10-2008 12:31 AM

Volt. when car isnt started- 12.56V
Volt. with car started- 13.99V
Volt. when car is started and AC is on- 13.96

those numbers dont look bad...... do you think the guy who worked on my headers messed something up? It just idles weird.....idk what it is.

JOEY GLADSTONE 06-10-2008 01:04 AM

those numbers are fine

billytheman1188 06-10-2008 03:16 AM

hmm....so any ideas of what it could be? maybe the alternator? idk, i guess i will bring it by the shop tomorrow and have them take a look at it. I wish i could explain whats going on better....
