Since I installed my CAI i have noticed the mileage has been worse. If I am in the peddle it is bad obviously. If I am driving normal (compared to other people) I am losing about 30 miles on the trip. I honestly never figured out the miles per gallon before and after but just wondering how everyone else's experiences are? thanks

I've got an Injen WAI. And since installation mines been worse too.... just because i find myself at full throttle alot to just listen to the sound. :)

mine got better

I've had both a cai and wai and mine had better gas mileage w/ both, except when I didn't change my filter on my CAI for about 6,000 miles then it dropped way down, maybe you just need to clean your filter real good.

With a CAI or WAI, you have got to keep the filter clean to keep the performance and gas mileage up.

im always giving it more throttle to hear it cuz the engine sounds soo sweet with cai. when i drive normal though i notice a better gas milage

I've only had it in for 2k miles.....where can I buy a recharge kit anyway?

Nikatrel 05-21-2004 10:05 AM

I bought mine yesterday from Advance Auto Parts.

K&N Filter Recharger Kit

Was like $10, took an hour to clean. Immediately noticed a difference.

(Haven't cleaned my filter since last spring  )

MPG should increase with either set-up, esp on the highway.

Just keep the filter clean

does exhaust matter, is it assumed that if you have a cai or wai that they have an aftermarket exhaust too?

Redog 05-21-2004 07:15 PM

It does help

If you're sucking in more air you have to push more out

alero168 05-21-2004 07:44 PM

so not everyone that gets a cai or wai gets an exhaust then? so can that be a prob to the mileage thing.

johny_boy32 05-21-2004 08:54 PM

mine got better with the stock exhaust

mlcroy20 05-21-2004 10:57 PM

When I had the CAI it went down a little but I had a crappy cheap filter on it... then I went to the WAI with K&N filter and it got a little better, but it's starting to suck again, so I probably need to clean it... I think it's been a year???;)
