How to remove rear bumper

Searched, and found nothing,

how do i do it? seems pretty well on there

Oldsman 11-20-2009 02:10 PM

you have 3 screws and a clip in each wheel well and then you have the clips in the trunk opening and there will be i believe 2 more clips on the bottom.

there are no bolts correct?

DansGen1Alero 11-20-2009 02:34 PM

just like oldsman said 3 screws on wheel well, and 1 plastic clip, I beleive you need a flathead to pry up the pop thingy on it and then pliers to pull n remove, same with the 4 on the top (under trunk)
(screwdriver- flat head and phillips and pliers) should get it off for you.

and theres at least 2 fasteners under each tail light

DansGen1Alero 11-20-2009 03:01 PM

you mean screws? I forgot about them

[ion] C2 11-20-2009 03:03 PM

don't remember if they were screws, bolts, or plastic pushpins, so fasteners covered all of them ha

DansGen1Alero 11-20-2009 03:05 PM

lol, if my memory is right they are just small big headed screws, but fasteners is what I wanted to call them push-pop thinky's
they are gm pushpin fasteners, and some are a PITA.

zzyzzx 11-20-2009 03:21 PM

If it's anything like my Escort, it's about as easy as doing an oil change.

DansGen1Alero 11-20-2009 03:22 PM

lol easier....id rather remove my bumper then do an oil change, lmao but then again I never did my oil myself.

Both bumpers and side skirts were a pain in the ass for me, but I did mine outside, on the ground, while it was snowing/raining.

What did you replace it with? Was it as easy to get the new one on?

Doing it by yourself, installing a bumper is harder than removing it since you have to line stuff up. Still not difficult though.

Nate's Alero 12-01-2009 11:14 AM

i never replaced it, i had to weld my striker... it was completely rotted off the car lol

whiterider00 12-01-2009 12:25 PM
