Real truth about the Pacesetters

Anyone have the new pacesetters for the 3400? It may be my next purchase after some new shoes for my hoe. If no one has them do you think they are better than my ported exhaust mani's?

Of course a tubular header would be better than a factory manifold. I went for a ride in billytheman1188's car and it sounded great.

One guy on here said they were junk but hasn't elaborated yet. I'd wait for more of a report from him or others before forkin out 300+ bucks. As for me I'm going to pay the little extra and get mine from WOT-Tech, which I know will be good quality. Also pacesetter has a reputation for making stuff that rusts, such as the alero cat back which is known to go to crap after a couple years.

cherrington17 11-15-2010 10:51 AM

but the real question is... WHEN

wot-tech is still developing....

Lucalare 11-15-2010 11:47 AM

Which is fine cause I'm in college and can't afford them yet, lol.

I don't really see what there is to develop... other company's have done them for not only cheaper but there design took a few days to fab. Not years... What does he need... Mandrel Bender and some 2 or 2.5 in piping and some collectors which you can get from practically anywhere.... just have all the collectors from each side be equal length and maybe have a mild anti reversion step and it would be great. If I had a bender this would have been done years ago.

And I wouldn't really care about the PS's getting rusted. it can't be worse than my stock ones. anyways I plan to powder coat them, and than wrap them in heat wrap since I have some left over from my turbo mani.

i believe hes testing, over and over to get the best flow/size/specs... for the price

I think Ben has been busy lately, but from what I've read is that when he developes something...its worth the wait and money.. He does a lot of testing. I've been wondering the same question about the pacesetters though.

Busy lately? He has been designing the headers for like 2 years... It's never going to happen people..

widbyj 11-15-2010 05:28 PM

Coated Pacesetter headers look like new after 3 years on my car, just sayin...

Lucalare 11-15-2010 07:25 PM

So maybe the coated ones would be good, just not the non coated. Granted this is for the LA1, not one of the 4 cylinders, so it may be different, but it shouldn't be.

Ben anytime you want to jump in this would be great...

Are these going to be Equal Length Headers or retain factory length?
Design Tri-y, 6-2-1, or 6-1?
What are the bend ID's going to be?
Will this have any sort of anti reversion?

As much as I would like to support Wot-Tech these headers are never going to come out and no info about them is being released or has even been decided..

:banghead: anyways.. if Ben doesn't get some dates set out within the end of the month I'm going to buy the PaceSetter ones

No offense Ben I love what you do for us but look how many people are waiting on this... the mileage on our cars is going nowhere but up and more and more people are leaving the community.

Go register on 60degreev6.com

They already have pictures up of these headers, the designer is a VERY busy guy so be thankful these are even in the process of being made.

This started in June of this year, on page 4 you will see some pics of them in process and I'm trying to find the other thread where ForcedF posted the latest pics.

edit-here's his latest pics

He said those aren't for the N-Body those are just a pic of what they could look like.....

Cliff8928 11-17-2010 01:41 AM

actually... he said they aren't all for the N-Body. The front header will most likely be dar near identical for all the applications.
