Anything?

well, just blew my set of front speakers they were infinity reference boards, I plan on amping the next set I get and want some amazing sound. for 4X6's I'm looking at alpine s, or kicker ks.
BUT! any way to put in a different size speaker? I'm wanting some 5-6" but i have no idea how the hell to potentially make them fit. anything is a great help.

get some rockfords or sundown speakers have you thought about putting 6x5s in the doors. You want quality speakers so they last also you will need set the gain just right so there is no distortion. I have the SMD DD-1 and it works great. I set all of my gains on my amps.I have rockfords for 2 years and have had not problems with them and they are hooked up to a 600.4 amp.

You can make a baffle for the 6x5s for the doors. Question are you planning to put a sub in the car. because then that would be ur low bass and the speakers and tweets would be you mids and highs.

Papa Rad17 07-23-2011 09:53 PM

Oh ya, I have a 4 Channel kenwood performance series amp that what I get will be tied to, my rear aare already wired up and adjusted.
As for those kick panels, a bit more the. I was wanting to spend, and was thinking of trying to keep them in the door, but that's for the link!

And yes, I already have a 12 and am looking at putting in one more.

Jabram mounted 6.5s behind the door. and a couple of us have made fiberglass mounts for the front of the door. Its a matter of preference. But if you want good sound.... going bigger is the ONLY way. 4x6s are crap compared to 5.25 or 6.5 sound quality.

x2 I have the 5.25 and they sound a lot better. I really like my rockfords. I am about to switch out my amps now for some rockford BD-CP amps so I have everything rockford except the sub i have.

Papa Rad17 07-23-2011 10:38 PM

^been looking at rockford stuff, not bad. and ya, im not liking those kick panels, the positioning just seems awkward... as for the the fiberglass mounts for the doors... i haven't the slights idea about how to go about that. i would really like some 6" or something close to that in the door. how did you get your 5.25's in?

Ryan from Ohio 07-25-2011 07:14 PM

Do some more searching.

The easiest way to describe it.

Buy some 5.25" speakers with grilles. Use the grille as a space plate. Run the screws from the rear of the speaker thru the grille into the white plastic of the door panel. If you position it right 3 of 4 screws will be behind the grill or in the white plastic only. The fourth hole was empty. Take a shit ton of silicone and seal the ring off.

Works wonderful.

Papa Rad17 07-25-2011 07:57 PM

oooohhhhhh k. i get what you were saying on the other thread now. I'm going to try and find some of the monsoon 5.25 holders if not I'll probably do that.

Papa Rad17 07-25-2011 08:12 PM

out of these would be best? i plan on putting the tweeter where the stock one is, and i know i'll do a lot of trimming and fitting for one of these to work.

Ryan from Ohio 07-25-2011 08:51 PM

None of those will work.

04inprogress 07-25-2011 10:45 PM

I made some rings out of mdf to fit my polk 5x7s-they just clear the window and door panel
Im powering them along with the back speakers (pioneers i need to replace) with an old school sony 4 channel amp that sounds great
and they go great with my mtx 10" 5500 series

JLw7123 07-25-2011 11:47 PM

I made my baffles out of MDF.

Gr1m 07-26-2011 03:42 AM

if u want loud crisp sound it will be expensive. my high's setup was around $800 and my lows setup was over $2,000 plus the head unit, batteries and H/O alternator ontop of that. car electronics gets expensive for quality shit.

yes but it is worth it. it is also cheaper if you just buy the stuff and install everything yourself.

Papa Rad17 07-26-2011 08:35 AM

Ya, I'm running alpine r 6by9 in the rear going to put in alpine r 5.25 in the front all amped by a kenwood performance series 4 channel 720watt putting in an alpine r 12" with alpine amp in the custom enclosure from aleroed04 I'm buying and soon I'll put in a kicker or alpine 10" as well. All powered by a kenwood exlon head unit and I'm going to put in a 78 optima battery to run it all. The alpine r series stuff isn't cheap at all but it has the best sound iv ever heard in my life. And they last forever.

Also: how would I go about putting the amps on the back of my rear seat?...

Papa Rad17 07-26-2011 01:16 PM

http://m.bestbuy.com/m/e/product/det...=1218019614414 what about taking out the 4X6 mount, putting these in then sealing off whatever area is left around that mount? There should be plenty of clearance with with the type of speaker I'm looking at.

Ryan from Ohio 07-26-2011 06:37 PM

The Alero has been around for some time so many things have been tried, worked and many failed.

You can install the 5.25" speakers right onto the door panel yourself in an afternoon. The only thing missing is a tube of clear silicone...

You mentioned a monsoon adapter for the alero? Mine had the 4x6 in the front also- never looked for an stock adapter from GM?

I have made my own adapter brackets out of plywood and fiberglass. It worked OK. Never could fully seal off the front wave from the rear. Resulting in poor SQ.

Ive seen and looked at every aftermarket adapter I could find. Nothing is suitable as there is no room for it.

Your options are fairly narrow.

1) Maintain the stock brackets and use 4x6 or plates
2) Buy the Q Forms kick panels- which cut down on foot space
3) Custom make your own adapters
4) Custom make your own pods on the door panel
5) Mount the speakers on the door panel.

1 & 5 are by far and large the easiest options that produce very good results. A good stout 4x6 is ok. Ive run the American Bass ones then eventually went to 5.25"s. Both were good but obviously the 5.25 wins...

Papa Rad17 07-26-2011 07:18 PM

We'll see what happens. The place that I'm having do the work is audio+ tech in terre haute Indian. There are people from hours away that talk about these guys like are god for there custom work. They do about anything you can think of to a car. So hopefully they come through.
