Man, I feel dumb posting this!

Alright so basically I got my Alero 4 months ago as my first car for my 16th birthday. After looking for about 3 months on somewhere to get advice on my Alero I was extremely happy to stumble upon aleromod.com!
Having this be my first car, I have no idea where to start with the audio, I need new deck speakers because mine are blown and I'd like to replace the head unit along with the front door speakers.
I have a 2004 Alero 2dr.
So what I'm wondering is what everyone suggests that I get put into my car, I'm looking for some good deck speakers that will thump and a nice head unit compatable with an iPod Classic. I'm not looking to spend more than 200 right now so Apline Type R and all that good stuff is out of the question.
I'm just looking for something that will last me a decent amount of time and will sound good!

Then after I figure out what I want, I need to know how to install it or if I'm just better off going to a audio shop.
Last time I posted some guy said to use the search button and thanks whoever said that but everything I come across, I don't understand.
I think I have a good idea on how to install my deck speakers but what parts/wiring do I need to install new deck speakers? Do I need a wiring harness?
Then how do I install a head unit into an Alero? Again what parts/equipment and stuff will I need for this?
Really my big question is on the Head Unit and how to install it when I get my new one!

If you can't help me with the installing part don't post a comment about it! Please no stupid comments because I already feel stupid posting this! But, I'd love to hear what everyone want's me to get installed for my speakers!
Thanks for anyone who helps!

two hundred is pretty cheap for a "good" head unit, and speakers.. especially since if you want to do things right you'll need a wire harness that costs around $100 itself, it isn't necessary, but the cheap method involves having the stock head unit still hooked up and moved to the trunk. My advice to you is save up until you're in the $300-$400 range.

My deck and rear speakers were about 250. That also came with detailed instructions and free install kit (which includes the wiring). If you want some good advice, go to www.crutchfield.com . That's where I get all my electronics and they haven't let me down yet. Hope this helps

my rear speakers were retail of $250 for my kenwoods.

your price range is not near enough on what you really want out of the money you got, your best bet is to figure out how you want to do it, buy used speakers or a used deck etc and then go from there.

now to replace the stock deck, you need to remove the shifter console area, the trim pieces by your legs ( well not remove but take the screws out and push it aside ) then your center trim piece and just unscrew put your new deck in with its new plate after once you get your harness and pre-attach the wires to your deck wireing so your not doing it in a very cramped space in the car then before reattaching everything turn the car to the on position or acc and make sure all the functions on the new deck works

i agree save your money. My alpine headunit and alpine speakers cost me 450 bucks. I have had them for 3 years and not one problem. It is better to save and get the better quality stuff than buying less quality stuff.

So your wanting a good price, with a pretty decent system. Go to alpines site, and build yourself a system. Type s speakers are going to be best for you from the sounds of it. They have 4X6 for the front 6x9 for the back. Then just select your head unit. If you want, you could put in a sub semi cheap. But if you plan on doing it later, go ahead and drop the rcas from the headunit now. Get the wire harness and mounting kit, USE THE SEACH BUTTON! To find the how to for all this, and an hour-2 hours you'll have a completely new awesome system installed.
My system is kenwood exlon head unit, kenwood performance amp for the custom mounted 6 1/2 componet type r in the front and 6x9 2 way type r in the back. Then 1000 watt alpine amp for the 12 type r sub in the custom fiberglass box. It all bumps, really well, and I can't pull any distortion on the cabin speakers, but it costs. So depending on you want to do, for me to get the 4 channel amp, then good speakers to handle it. It adds up super fast.

Just so you know magiic, there are other brands besides alpine.. seems are members are pretty biased :p

Papa Rad17 12-28-2011 08:03 PM

I I still haven't heard anything that can beat my type r's in overall best sound. Of course kicker, infinity, Kenwood, and jlaudio aren't bad either

JLw7123 12-28-2011 08:09 PM

rockford makes some real good speakers they give alpine a runn for their money. if i bought speakers i would get rockford. Jl audio subs are one of the cleanest sounding subs there is. the rockford tweeters are amazing especially the rockford T1 series.

robalero 12-29-2011 08:09 AM

my alpines in my 4x6 are already broken only after 8 months of use. they have a terrible noise at higher levels so I need to cut it out and send more music at my rear kenwoods. If I had the choice I wouldn't go alpine speakers again for the front ( which I do have one ) im currently saving up for some different speakers havent decided which ones might do something different then 4x6 as they are pretty lousy on sound

Papa Rad17 12-29-2011 03:28 PM

Did you get just 'alpine' those things are a pos's you have to get a type s or r have a good speaker.

robalero 12-30-2011 08:12 AM

I have the type s 4 x 6

Hellfire5670 12-30-2011 02:30 PM

You live a sheltered life. I had more a few times into a system than the Alero was worth. My last head unit sold for $100 less than I sold the car for...

To the OP.

Do it right or dont do it. If you cant afford to do it right at this moment save until you can. I was into audio before you were born (hahaha Im old enough to say this) and I can tell you that you will get what you pay for.

I would advise buying the proper fit and wiring kit for the car. Up grade the deck first, then the front speakers. Then move into the subs/amps.

As for how to install it, it is pretty easy. I believe there is a right up on the forum somewhere.

spc2125 12-31-2011 12:32 AM

just to keep you busy start searching your local craigslist for subwoofers and stuff. Its amazing what you can find

I just picked up 2 12" alpine type r subwoofers in a box for only $70!!

Papa Rad17 12-31-2011 12:41 AM

^what he said. check out a best buy, i hate to say walmart... um... and audio specialty shops. someplace where you can listen to broad range or speakers. then decide how you want to spend your dollar for what sound you want.
spc, you keeping both of um?

Magiic 01-03-2012 12:28 AM

Thanks to everyone that posted some replies!

I ended up getting a nice Kenwood head unit with the wiring for around 130 on Crutchfield. Just went to my local Best Buy and got some Pioneers for about 45 the time being, I'm planning on saving up for the summer and then getting some nice Alpines or maybe some Kenwoods. Not sure yet!

Thanks again, it all helped out a lot

Papa Rad17 01-03-2012 12:36 AM

Go the exlon series from kenwood are beautiful. I already had my little alpine speal up there. Enjoy your modding but I warn, it's addictive
