Not sure where to post this at but I'll try here. Sticky maybe?

I believe there is already a thread for this.

Maybe not i can't find one.

Me... 3.4L I get maybe 24 city and 30-31 highway.

Unless I'm driving hard. Gotta love it.

billytheman1188 01-29-2013 04:04 PM

3500, 27 city/highway (not driving too hard), 33 highway and if i really get on her i get about 23mpg. If its the winter and i get on it....about 21 mpg.

DeeJayy 01-29-2013 04:10 PM

could be a lot of things.....dirty fuel filter, air filter, throttle body, need new sparkplugs, clogged cat.

sleepyalero 01-29-2013 04:45 PM

I also have the 6 speed, so I can be in really low rpms at certain speeds. So like... At 30mph I can be in 5th gear at around 1100-1150 rpm.

03glgold 01-29-2013 04:45 PM

2003 ecotec...usually about 23 average, 16 city 25-8 highway...other than sometimes when it feels generous for a while and I can get 34mpg for a couple hundred miles...driving type depends on mood, distance of trip, urgency of trip, etc.

This past weekend I had driven over 500 miles already in my car alone (drove my dad's truck some to do some work stuff for him since him and my mom were in branson), so the last couple miles of interstate I said screw it and stepped on it (the interstate in western kansas is pretty empty at 11pm)

fixed...sometimes I think my computer hates me, that is a result of it leaving the page as I hit post, and then saying that it didn't post

DAAAAAAAAAAMN. That sucks....lol. 16 city!? WTFUDGE? My mom gets that in her xterra....actually she gets about 17 lol. You def have to do a nice little tune up.

03glgold 01-29-2013 05:46 PM

it has fairly new plugs, new IAT sensor...if it ever quits being a PITA long enough for me to save for it then I will replace o2 sensors and the cat when I get a new exhaust and that will probably fix most of it...I am at just over 158k and the original cat can be smelled on occasion on hard uphill accelerations

billytheman1188 01-29-2013 06:15 PM

158k on the original cat.....oh yea thats prob the problem. What did u used to get before the mpgs got crappy? Or has it always been bad since u had it?

I have improved it since I got it...My uncle took me back with him to Ft. Carson where he had it at and my first all highway tank was 23mpg and I was only doing 75...most of my highway figures now are at 80-85...replacing my timing assembly was of some benefit as it now runs 250 rpm less for any highway speeds

Newlin 01-29-2013 07:10 PM

2004 Ecotec Automatic
I average 26 - 28 MPG on my overall driving. Highway is around 33 and city is somewhere south of 26 :)

I usually keep things under 3k RPMs but there are moments where I am on it.

billytheman1188 01-29-2013 07:27 PM

I guess i drive mine too easy....lol....i'm getting what a 2.2 and 2.4 gets. I also prob get better mileage since i have a full exhaust set up....intake,headers,exhaust prob gave me 2-3 more mpg. Gotta love it!

There is also a software update for the PCM for 02-03 ecotecs that mine never recieved...in fact dealer records show that the last time my car was at the dealership for anything was 11 miles when they bought it ...if my uncle would have paid attention it was covered under the emissions warranty of 8 years 80k miles, however now it costs the $97 for a reflash and that is a bit pricey for me to spend on it right now...I had a hard time spending $4 to buy the stuff to change my headlight color again.
With it running right mine should be at 34mpg or so as I have heard that number several times, and my friends 2.4l is running at 34mpg with 164k so you are close to there but not quite, we shall see what happens after exhaust and software update...I find it hilarious to think of a car having to have a software update

mastershake 01-29-2013 08:33 PM

3.4, im getting 21 mpg city right now and only like 23-24 highway... my car sucks.

Redog 01-29-2013 09:49 PM

3400.

Avg 20 city 34 all highway, about 23 combined.

One time I got 37 highway. Still don't know how, it was only one time.

Those numbers are probably out the window now that I have a GAGT tranny
