Throttle body?

Can the throttle body go bad on aleros? ive made a post before how i thought it could be the fuel pump.. but im not sure and i have no CEL.. so its very difficult and it causes serious anxiety lol.. you can be at a red light stopped.. and it wants to try and go dead at idle.. its fine when it first starts... but after the car is warm is when it does it the most... ive changed everything else.. Plugs, fuel filter cleaned IAC.. but i notice even driving when accelerating it wants to be sluggish..

did you ever check the map hose?

over40driver 11-27-2014 01:09 PM

Bad fuel pump will usually do nothing at all. How many miles do you have on the car?

It hooks into the bottom side of the throttle body. If you can't find it, then let me know and I will either try and find a place to take a picture or ask my friend if they have one from when they had to change theirs.

ill check it out.. can you see the hose if ur looking over the engine though?

David19 11-29-2014 12:41 AM

i know it has to be something so simple because it was running way too good a few months ago :/

David19 12-14-2014 02:41 PM

UPDATE: still have the same problem... im starting to think maybe its a clogged Cat? but im still not getting any codes at all... when i first start it up i do smell gas... like the exhaust..

01OhioAlero 12-14-2014 05:42 PM

Run it for a while at night and look underneath at the cat, if they are bad they turn slightly red from being hot.

wouldn't it trigger a code if it was bad tho?

what are the odds cat is bad on a 80k car? lol.

David19 12-14-2014 06:49 PM

well didnt see the cat turn red but when you rev it like before it trys to go dead i get white smoke coming out of the exhaust...

How were the spark plugs when u pulled them out? Basic diagnostics here. Almost sounds like it's running rich (ok when cold cuz it needs the fuel, then bad when up to temp), maybe bad fuel pressure regulator or intake air temp sensor.

plugs had normal wear from having 80k on them.. believe they were the original plugs.. and fuel pressure regulator ive been reading about this alot and seems to have the same symptoms is this part real hard to change?

03Alerosil 12-19-2014 06:27 AM

No not at all but you should verify that it's actually bad

you have a vacuum leak. check every hose, look at everything that comes from the manifold and the throttle body.

for sure

no. checked for vacuum leaks already... we thought it was plugs is the reason they were changed.. has more hesitation while taking off more then anything.. figure it was fuel related..

David19 01-03-2015 03:46 PM

you won't believe this....

im not sure which sensor it is im not really mechanic inclined lol but the sensor in the front of the engine which has a small hose running.. well it was torn... that is which was causing all my problems...

a.graham52 01-03-2015 07:31 PM

Technically that's a vacuum leak haha.
