So, i've been looking to get front and rear strut tower braces for some time now, but i eventually came to the question, are they really going to do that much for me. So, to any of you who have them, did you notice any difference in anything after you put them on?

Vtolds 03-18-2005 08:12 AM

I had the RSM Racing Front a Rear, and I noticed a big difference when I installed the rear, and not so much of a difference with the front.

huge difference

alero_ecotec 03-18-2005 10:08 AM

just in like handling or what?

bigd6983 03-18-2005 10:31 AM

i noticed a big difference in steering response, the car feels tighter in the steering department, theres still body roll........but the steering is more precise........some say they notice that it gets quieter in the cabin but that i couldnt tell you, cause i always have music going so that dont matter 2 me........

I bought the rear stb from VTOLDS and i noticed a big difference. The back end is a lot tighter. The rear tires dont feel like they are going to slide out whenever you try to whip it around a bend.

I didn't think it was gonna fit but then I realized I had to unscrew almost all the way. I like the look of it too. It fits right above my sub box. I'm going to buy the front one soon to make up for the spot where 2 more cylinders should be in my engine.

Vtolds 03-18-2005 07:46 PM

Yeah I should have mentioned that they gotta be screwed all the way out to fit.

I've been running with front and rear STB's for almost a yr and yea they help stabilize the car in a straight line, help it to be more precise in the corners, and they help with breaking, i run my car pretty hard and it was money well spent on them.

Youngblood77 03-19-2005 01:00 AM

I agree with the previous posts. I have Speedbuilt STB's front and rear, and they DO quiet the ride a tad. Body roll is still present, but they're not designed or intended to effect body roll anyways, that's what aftermarket swaybars are for. I agree totally with bigd's comment on the steering feeling more precise...I couldn't have said it better.

bigd6983 03-19-2005 02:26 AM

when installing the braces do you turn the bar such that it pushes the links towards the outside of the car........or twist the bar so thats it pulling the links towards the center of the car??

Youngblood77 03-19-2005 07:39 AM

Push towards the outside of the car, I believe....I never recieved instructions with mine, So I installed mine that way based on a gut feeling.

( In theory, they don't need to apply pressure in either direction...they just need to make a rigid "link" between the two towers )

hope this helps ya D

I have a pair too. Along with everybody else's statements, which are true, the car's body will not flex on accle and tight turning.

jabartram 03-19-2005 11:32 AM

put slight outward pressure on both braces.

bigd6983 03-19-2005 12:04 PM

yea it never came with instructions on which way to turn just that it needs to be tightened......i think i have them tightened inwards, im gonna change it and see if i notice a difference.....thanks youngblood

I can't wait to get mine ordered up!! :D

SlickSketcher 03-22-2005 09:46 PM

I just got mine yesterday from Vibrant Performance. It was only $65 which included shipping. It's a great chrome finish and I noticed a difference right away when I drove it. It's made for the 99-03 Grand Am, but fits like a glove. No problems with it.
