i have an auto...but it shifts really weird lately. its hard to describe but its like...i start off from a stop and it goes alittle longer then it should to shift. when i drive slow, i dont notice it...but if i start out fast, it does that weird late shift....anyone kno?!

mine used to do same thing, but it only did it when it was cold. It seemed to take longer for it to shift from 1st gear into 2nd when just taking it easy on the gas.

so its nothing to do with the tranny?? i dont need a new one or anything?!
and it shifts fine when im going slow...just when i wanna start up fast it does it :(

Mine only does that when it is cold outside right after I first start up. Just for the first couple of stop signs in the nieghborhood, then goes away after the tranny and engine heat up a little.

well...i drove from my house to my bfs work...so a 10 min drive and i was sweating i had the heat up so high(im always cold)....and he drove me to my work from his and it did it when he pulled out....
if its normal then i wont worry....just was wondering if it was something wrong with my tranny
thanks a bunch guys!

PM Overdrive75, he can tell you if there's anything wrong.

I occasionally have the same problem, but it comes and goes. Only one time did I decide I had to take it home because it was doing it so badly. It "slips" when trying to downshift into first gear when this normally happens. But it also sometimes happens from a stop, when it already is in first gear... so I'm not sure what the culprit is and the stealership told me nothing was wrong (big surprise).

My car has always had a long first gear since I bought it, but I figured it was normal. I just wasn't used to it. I had a 92 sunbird before this and it drove alot different.
