To answer one of your questions.... if your pump has a red, 2 pin plug down near the pressure/return lines, you have VES (granted its probably too late at this point... just figured I'd toss it out...

IMO, cathodes are a good bang for the buck. Good light distribution, easy to conceal, low power draw (about on par w/ LED's), great for places like under the seats (one 12" and one 4" will work...
