If you track your mileage, you might be able to tell. My Cavalier was running rich, due to the black smoke, and then a few days later threw an O2 code. I already had the sensor, just needed to replace it. Before one of my oil changes, my mileage dropped significantly. After the oil change and tuneup, back up. Who knows though. It could be a ton of things affecting the mileage.
