Started by trying to separate the grey and main front piece, I'm not sure if it was too hot(82 DEG F) but I worked for a good hour and a half on one assembly and couldn't separate it.
82 degrees is not going to melt anything, you'll nee hotter than that.

Did you pull up on the little plastic clips that help hold the two sections together? Something I would also recommend doing is to mask off the lense area so you don't get all gooey crap on the lense of the headlight. It will make cleanup much easier.
