I think it depends on the nut you have.

Mine is the old style original one. Its got a nut with a pressed steel cover over it. Thats 35MM. which is 1.377"= 1.375 close enough = 1 3/8"

I went to Autozone for a socket and they didnt have a deep well 1 3/8" SO I tried the 35 and of course it fit.
