Heres the start of my speaker pods.
Thats 3 to 4 layers of glass. The thin weave from Wal Mart. I intend to cover the outside with 2-3 layers of strand mat from Wal mart.
I removed the stock pods using a drill to drill out the melted pegs. Theres two metal rivets to drill out in the same fashion.
I put down PLENTY of blue painters tape. Then I glassed right over it. Its hard already (warm day and I mixed on the hot side). Not fully cured though... Next step will be to pull it off. Get the tape off. Get the general base shape. Add wood where I can. I anticipate 5 mounting points. Use Hurricane nuts in wood. Then cut some speaker rings. Dowel rods and hot glue into place.
At which point I will need to actually run these in the car to ensure they are aimed where I want them. The tweeter I want to mount on a pivot and run it also until I find where I want it. Then its time to cover and glass...
