Thing of it is, it didn't handle any different with the broken one. I guess it still had just enough strength to work properly. I was like oh damn when it just fell apart in my hands. I'm actually glad the mechanic caught it. If I had been going around a bend a little too fast or something, and it broke in the process, I don't even want to think about it.
