Little late to the party here but if you want to check the for a bad bearing have the wheels (both front if you think it is the front that is bad) in the air and spin each wheel by hand (fast as you can) with one hand on the coil spring and you should be able to feel the vibration from the bearing in the spring! Some times it is still hard to tell but usually that will do it.
